Is there a more visually stunning city than Dubrovnik? Nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic, this destination is sure to capture your gaze. Between it’s white limestone buildings, bright terracotta rooftops and cobalt blue waters that sparkle under the sunlight you'll be dazzled during your visit. This was the final stop of our travels in Croatia, and what a way to finish of our trip.
We walked up, down, and around the Old Town clocking thousands of steps each day, and in this video we’re going to take you on a tour of of the city and show you 15 things to do in Dubrovnik.
We entered the Old Town through Ploće Gate, which is in the east end of the city strolling along the Old Port. We explored the Old Town on foot visiting Dubrovnik Cathedral, which at one point was even funded by England’s King Richard the Lionheart, after he was saved from a shipwreck on the nearby island of Lokrum.
We wandered over to Gundulić Square where a few vendors had set up for the day to sniff out a few treats. We stopped at Big Onofrio Fountain, which was built in 1438 as part of a water system that supplied water from a spring 12km away.
Then, another attraction unexpectedly caught our attention: The Old Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery.
Founded in the year 1317, this in-house pharmacy was set up by Franciscan friars and would go on to service the town as well as people living beyond the walls. There’s still a pharmacy within the monastery today.
We tried to visit the Rector’s Palace, which was built in the late 15th century for the elected rector who governed Dubrovnik, but it was under renovation.
A sightseeing boat tour called the “Panorama Excursion” departed from the Old Port and went out around Lokrum Island.
We decided to eat at Mea Culpa, and ordered one Dalmatian Pizza and one Seafood Pizza.
It was time for the main attraction: walking around Dubrovnik’s Old City walls. Admission is 150 kuna for a 2 kilometres walk that takes about 1 hour to complete.
The first set of walls were built in the 9th century, and then in the 14th century these were strengthened with forts along the circumference. This attraction is worth the price tag. From here you can admire the all of the old town, gaze at the shimmering waters of the Adriatic, and look out to the neighbouring Lokrum.
After that quick ice cream break, we walked over to Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress.
Perched on a cliff 37 meters above the sea, this fortress dominates sea and land entrances from the western side of the city.
We made a stop at Buza Bar, which is great place for drinks anytime of day, but especially so around sunset. Gradac Park, was also used as one of the Game of Thrones filming locations, so you may recognize it from the Purple Wedding.

Il paradiso nascosto dei Bagni San Filippo, le terme naturali nel cuore della Val d’Orcia in Toscana
I Bagni San Filippo sono una medicina per il corpo e per l’anima, un luogo incantato nel cuore verde della Toscana. In Val d’Orcia, in provincia di Siena, c’è un rifugio naturale per chi fugge da stress e preoccupazioni. Le terme prendono il nome dall’omonimo paesino di Bagni San Filippo, e si trovano alle pendici del monte Amiata montagna da sempre famosa per le sue acque curative.Le terme erano infatti note già ai tempi dei romani come testimoniano i diversi ritrovamenti archeologici nella zona. Fu sotto la famiglia dei Medici che divennero grande sito di interesse: Lorenzo il Magnifico in persona le visitò nel 1485, e il Granduca Ferdinando II venne qui nel 1635 per liberarsi di un fastidioso “mal di capo”. Le particolari proprietà di cementazione delle acque di San Filippo furono utilizzate poi dall’architetto toscano Leonardo de Vegni, che inventò così la plastica dei tartari nel XVIII secolo, una tecnica con la quale realizzò apprezzatissime opere d’arte. I bagni sono anche una zona di interesse naturalistico: le formazioni rocciose cambiano colore a seconda della stagione, e passano dal bianco pallido della calda estate al marroncino verdastro dell’inverno ricco di piogge. La roccia più grande e famosa è la Balena Bianca, così chiamata per la formazione calcarea che ricorda la bocca di una balena.

Este territorio antiguamente se llamaba Graffenberg, cuando pertenecía a la silesia Austríaca. Atrajo la atención de todo el mundo cuando se hizo fama de ser un lugar donde se curaban varias enfermedades a través de regímenes naturales y tratamientos que llevaban el organismo hacia un balance con el medio y la naturaleza.
El sitio lleva el nombre de su fundador Vincent Priessnitz nacido en la que en entonces fuera la silesia austríaca, hoy Republica Checa.
Considerado el padre de la medicina alternativa usando hidroterapia, utilizó recursos naturales como el aire fresco y el agua de montaña para llevar al organismo a un estado de bienestar y salud.
Hoy en día terapeutas de toda europa especializados en distintas áreas respaldan los tratamientos de quienes vienen a visitar unos días estas montañas.
Las estancias relajantes y terapéuticas en los balnearios checos son opciones populares, ya que descansa en medio de la naturaleza y disfruta plenamente de la belleza del otoño. El Spa de Jeseník, está vinculado con la figura de Vincent Priessnitz y se ubica como uno de los sitios más populares en esta área.
La magia de la historia de Priessnitz reside en el hecho de que literalmente experimentó los efectos beneficiosos de la hidroterapia con su propio cuerpo. Con su ayuda, pudo recuperarse de las lesiones graves que recibió al trabajar en una granja. Mientras los curanderos lo descartaron y predijeron una vida de lisiado para él, Priessnitz aplicó envolturas y compresas frías y se recuperó. Una estancia al aire libre con el uso de agua de manantial se convirtió en la piedra angular del futuro y exitoso tratamiento de sus pacientes. Al principio, los llevó a su casa convertida con lavabos, con los que estableció el primer instituto hidropático del mundo, pero a medida que su número aumentó exponencialmente, no se quedaron con los lavabos y Gräfenberg (hoy Jeseník) a unos 100 km. de Olomouc, hoy una ciudad registrada en la UNESCO, se convirtió en un famoso centro de spa, donde la élite de la monarquía austrohúngara fue a recibir tratamiento.
Entre los pacientes de Priessnits figuraban príncipes, duques y generales de Austria, Polonia, Fracnia, Italia y otros países.
El estricto régimen del sanatorio consistía en levantarse temprano, abrir la ventana, tomar un baño frío, caminar descalzo en el rocío de la mañana y ducharse bajo un manatial en la naturaleza. Quejarse y hablar de la enfermedad estaba prohibido.
Su éxito y fama se extendió por toda Europa. Con el tiempo la pequeña colonia de Grafenberg se convirtió en el balneario de Jesenik.
