Railway Journey: Bodmin Parkway to Plymouth - Intercity 125

Hello guys, South West Trainspotting here and welcome to my latest railway journey series video. In this video, I am showcasing the journey from Bodmin Parkway to Plymouth on the Cornish Mainline.

In this particular video, we are travelling on the 08:10 Great Western Railway service to London Paddington from Penzance. This is the 06:50 service off Penzance and it's headcode is 1A78. Along the way in the journey, we called at Liskeard and Plymouth. I explain all of the train's calling points before Bodmin Parkway in my commentary. An Intercity 125 HST with powercars 43177 and 43022 is our traction. 29/4/2017.

Service report:


We start off the journey by leaving Bodmin Parkway about 2 and a half minutes late due to a previous late departure from Lostwithiel with our next station stop of Liskeard. As we make our way through the scenery of Cornwall, we cross St Pinnock's Viaduct on a small single track section between Largin Viaduct and St Pinnock's Viaduct. As we continue through the scenery of Cornwall, we go through Speritt Tunnel before crossing over a viaduct where you can actually see Coombe Junction Halt below, one of Britain's least used stations. This viaduct lead us right into Liskeard where we end up departing about 3-4 minutes late. Upon departure, we cross Liskeard Viaduct which takes the Cornish Mainline across the Looe Valley Line. Shortly after, we pass through Menheniot which is a small station in Cornwall where only local services call at as it is a request stop. We then pass through St Germans where we then cross a bridge over the River Tiddy. As we begin to slow down for the upcoming speed limit, we begin to turn towards Saltash where after the turning we have full view of the River Tamar and and at the other side, Plymouth. As we make our way through the town of Saltash, we then shortly pass through the station where we are then crossing over the Royal Albert Bridge which connects the Cornish Mainline from Devon to Cornwall over the River Tamar. Once we are the otherside, we're on the outskirts of Plymouth and officially out of Cornish territory. For the remainder of the journey, we pass through Plymouth's small suburb stations before shortly arriving into Plymouth 5 minutes late.

I'm not too sure what my next railway journey video will be, I guess you will all have to be surprised haha.

Great Britain VI - Day 1 2013

Great weather for the start of the GB VI.
My first shot was on the 1:80 Honiton Bank in Devon. Unfortunately 34067 Tangmere was being assisted up the bank by 47245 with the diesel doing most of the work.
My second shot was on Rattery Bank where the Black 5 pair stormed to the summit.
I did manage to get a third shot from the A38 in Cornwall of the locos crossing Menheniot viaduct.
