Montiano is a comune in the Province of Forlì-Cesena in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 90 kilometres southeast of Bologna and about 25 kilometres southeast of Forlì. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,573 and an area of 9.3 square kilometres .The municipality of Montiano contains the frazioni Badia and Montenovo. Montiano borders the following municipalities: Cesena, Longiano, Roncofreddo.

    The Fortress of San Leo is a castle on the border of the Romagna and Marche; the castle is best known as the site where Count Cagliostro died. It was one of the palaces owned by Federico da Montefeltro and his wife Battista Sforza and was a fortified, palatial retreat. It is now a museum.
