Untouched Caribbean Island. Can't Believe This Exists
In this video we spend a few days exploring the untouched and not overly well known Caribbean island of Dominica! Dominica is known as the nature island, with lots of waterfalls and rivers (365, one for every day of the year!).
We start things off with a quick tour of our hotel, where we are staying in the penthouse. This hotel is an adventure hotel and a great place to stay if you’re looking to plan lots of fun adventures around the island during your stay. You can find more about it here:
After setting off from the hotel to explore the island, and getting over a bit of motion sickness (the roads are very windy and even those that aren’t use to motion sickness can be affected, some prepared), we stop at the Emerald Pool. It’s about a 10 minute easy hike to get there and once you arrive you’ll encounter a lovely waterfall where you can also swim. This is definitely the place where we encountered more tourists than anywhere else!
Next up we had the most beautiful canoe ride through Indian River (a scene from Pirate’s of the Caribbean was filmed here), where we encountered loads of different types of birds, crabs and wildlife. Unfortunately it got dark very quickly and we had to stop filming.
We picked things up the next day at Morne Bruce where we had a great view overlooking the main city in Dominica, Roseau. We also make a stop at the botanical gardens to see a bus that was flattened by a tree many years ago in a hurricane and is now referred to as David and Goliath. We then spend a little bit of time exploring Roseau.
Later we make our way to a lake high up in the mountains, called Freshwater Lake where we fly the drone to get a better view.
Lastly we head to Trafalgar water falls to view the two side by side waterfalls affectionally known and mama and papa.

Dominica Drone Flight: Dominica is a mountainous Caribbean island nation with natural hot springs and tropical rainforests. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is home to the volcanically heated, steam-covered Boiling Lake. The park also encompasses sulphur vents, the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls and narrow Titou Gorge. To the west is Dominicas capital, Roseau, with colorful timber houses and botanic gardens. Down the coast is Champagne Reef, a snorkeling destination where gas bubbles emerge from the shallow sea floor. Nearby is Soufriere village, in a volcanic crater bay with hot springs on its pebbly beach and coral-covered underwater cliffs offshore. Inland is Wotten Waven, a mountain village with thermal baths among tree ferns. Cabrits National Park, in the north, is home to Fort Shirley, once manned by 18th-century British colonialists. The fort marks the end of the Waitukubuli National Trail, a long-distance hike spanning the length of Dominica. [wikipedia // Google]

Dominica Trip - Royal Caribbean Cruise
Much of volcanic Dominica is blanketed by untamed rainforest that's a verdant backdrop to experiences such as an intense trek to a bubbling lake, soothing your muscles in hot sulfur springs, getting pummeled by a waterfall, snorkeling in a glass of ‘champagne’, swimming up a narrow gorge – the list goes on.
Dominica has been spared mass tourism, in large part because there are very few sandy beaches, no flashy resorts and no direct international flights. Whether you’re into trekking high into the mountaintops or exploring the watery world below, Dominica is the place to go for those who prefer hiking boots over high heels and are content with a nightlife where the only music is the murmur of the jungle. Dominica has surprisingly long drives for such a small island, so it’s better to pick a spot or two and explore instead of bouncing around. If you can do it in the mountains (hiking, bird-watching, searching for hidden pools and waterfalls) or the water (diving, snorkeling, kayaking), you can do it in Dominica. Don't miss the ancient forests of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, home to the otherworldly Boiling Lake and the spectacular Trafalgar Falls. There are a few sandy beaches, but most require a little gumption to find and there are usually only a few lodging choices nearby, at most.
