    The UNESCO has designated 168 World Heritage sites in all of the 15 sovereign countries of Southern Europe: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, and Vatican City as well as one site in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar.
