Places to see in ( Baton Rouge - USA )
Baton Rouge is a city on the Mississippi River, and the capital of Louisiana. Antebellum landmarks include the castle-like Old Louisiana State Capitol, now a museum, and Magnolia Mound Plantation, with its French Creole house. LSU Rural Life Museum is a complex of refurbished buildings illustrating 18th- and 19th-century life. On the river, the USS Kidd is a retired WWII destroyer that is now a museum.
Baton Rouge is a major industrial, petrochemical, medical, research, motion picture, and growing technology center of the American South. It is the location of Louisiana State University, the LSU System's flagship university and the largest institution of higher education in the state. It is also the location of Southern University, the flagship institution of the Southern University System, the only historically black college system in the nation. The Port of Greater Baton Rouge is the 10th-largest in the United States in terms of tonnage shipped, and is the farthest upstream Mississippi River port capable of handling Panamax ships.
The Baton Rouge area owes its historical importance to its strategic site upon the Istrouma Bluff, the first natural bluff upriver from the Mississippi River Delta. This allowed development of a business quarter safe from seasonal flooding. In addition, the city built a levee system stretching from the bluff southward to protect the riverfront and low-lying agricultural areas. The city is a culturally rich center, with settlement by immigrants from numerous European nations and African peoples brought to North America as slaves or indentured servants. It was ruled by seven different governments: French, British, and Spanish in the colonial era, West Floridian, United States territory and state, Confederate, and United States again.

Big Bend National Park on Mexico Border - Cheap RV Living
RV Camping at Big Bend National Park on the border of Mexico in Texas was AMAZING! We explored trails, took a trip to Boquillas Mexico, enjoyed the spectacular sunsets, took a dip in the hot springs and the list goes on. This is one of the best National Parks we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. We camped at the Rio Grande Village Campground which is dry camping. We were also outside of the generator use area, which we preferred to the sites that you could use the generator as these campsites more were spacious and private. We highly recommend Big Bend National Park in Texas for a vacation if you love outdoors. And remember, there are a ton of easy trails for hiking and taking in picturesque views. The camping here was CHEAP at $14 a night.

Baton Rouge New State Building | Louisiana | Rv Life
On our way to Texas, we couldn't help but make a quick stop in Baton Rouge. We wanted to see the old and new State Capitol Buildings. We went all the way up to the amazing observation deck where we enjoyed some breathtaking views. The best part of it all is that it was totally free, even the parking.
After visiting the new building we are heading to the Old State Capitol Building. That will be in the next video and we are looking forward to seeing which do you consider to be the better building.

Archeology at Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park
Dr. Elizabeth Horton with the Arkansas Archeological Survey is stationed at Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park. She talks about why Toltec is such a unique place and why her specialty of paleoethnobotany is such a great fit.
A National Historic Landmark, the Toltec Mounds site comprises one of the largest and most impressive archeological sites in the Lower Mississippi River Valley. Preserved here are Arkansas's tallest American Indian mounds. Three mounds remain where 18 once stood surrounded by an earthen embankment eight to ten feet in height, a portion of which is still visible today. These ancient earthworks are the remains of the late-Woodland thru early-Mississippian Period ceremonial and governmental complex which was inhabited here from A.D. 650 to 1050.
The archeological site/research station is cooperatively managed by Arkansas State Parks and the Arkansas Archeological Survey. The Toltec Research Station of the Arkansas Archeological Survey, a unit of the University of Arkansas system, and its laboratory are housed in the park visitor center. Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park is one of Arkansas's two archeological sites cooperatively managed by Arkansas State Parks and the Arkansas Archeological Survey as both a state park and an archeological research station. The other is Parkin Archeological State Park at Parkin.

Amazing Shadows-on-the-Teche - New Iberia, Louisiana
Built in 1831-1834 for David and Mary Weeks, Shadows-on-the-Teche is a historic house and garden on the Bayou Teche. Most homes of this era faced the bayou since water was the primary method of transportation. In this case, the rear of Shadows-on-the-Teche faced the Bayou. Complete family history and plantation records exist today due to the fact that only one family has resided here since 1834. This sequence was shot in January 2000.
