SANTA MARIA CABO VERDE -- ILHA DO SAL -- SNORKELING IN THE SOUTH OF ISLAND
Ilha do Sal è un'isola dell'arcipelago di Capo Verde. Il suo nome significa Isola del Sale. Il nome Sal divenne di uso comune solo dopo la scoperta e lo sfruttamento dei depositi di sale da cucina.L'isola ha un'estensione totale di 216 km², e si presenta con un profilo altimetrico praticamente piatto, tranne che per alcune piccole colline nella zona nord, resti di antichi vulcani, allungandosi per 30 km nella sua aridità in un mare blu cobalto dai toni spettacolari.
Ilha do Sal is an island of the archipelago of Cape Verde. Its name means Island of Sal. The name Sal became commonly used only after the discovery and exploitation of deposits of salt.The island has a total area of 216 km ², and shows an elevation profile almost flat, except for a few small hills in the north, remnants of ancient volcanoes, stretching for 30 km in its dryness in a cobalt blue sea from spectacular tones.
1)la prima giornata ci avventuriamo nei pressi della spiaggia di Ponte Preta che è la più famosa in quanto ogni anno vi organizzano i campionati mondiali di kite surfing
The first day we venture near the beach in Ponte Preta which is the most famous because every year there are kite surfing world championships;
2)durante il percorso ci imbattiamo in una gigantesca duna di sabbia che contrasta con il panorama circostante
along the way we come across a giant sand dune that contrasts with the surrounding landscape;
3)è una spiaggia candida e incontaminata di sabbia finissima, dove fanno capolino alcuni scogli frastagliati

4)la temperatura dell'acqua è di circa 21°C in tutta l'isola
the water temperature is around 21 ° C throughout the island
5)essendo la nostra prima uscita e non conoscendo le correnti marine presenti, preferiamo restare a non più di 10 metri dalla riva, dove comunque riusciamo a osservare qualche pesce tropicale

6)la seconda giornata ci incamminiamo lungo la spiaggia oltrepassando il villaggio Bravo, prendendo come punto di riferimento il faro

7)notiamo il vecchio motore di una imbarcazione abbandonato
we notice the old engine of a boat abandoned ;
8)ci tuffiamo in acqua e poco distante, a circa 5 metri, vediamo altri pezzi dell'imbarcazione
we dive into the water and not far away, about 5 meters, we see other parts of the boat;
9)proseguiamo nuotando fino a scorgere il relitto dell'imbarcazione, a circa 20 metri di distanza da dove abbiamo trovato il vecchio motore Spiaggiato
we continue swimming until we approached the wreck of the vessel, about 20 meters away from where we found the old engine beached;
10)finalmente riusciamo a vedere anche alcuni piccoli banchi di pesci tropicali!
finally we can see also some small shoals of tropical fish!
11)continuiamo a ispezionare il relitto restando soddisfatti della buona giornata

12)la terza giornata ci rechiamo a santa maria perché un amico ci ha informati che nei pressi del molo è possibile vedere una statua di Gesù Cristo a circa 5 metri di profondità
The third day we go to santa maria because a friend informed us that near the pier we can see a statue of Jesus Christ about 5 meters deep;
13)raccogliamo informazioni tra i passanti per cercare di individuare l'esatta posizione della statua, fino a che conosciamo Emerson, un ragazzino capoverdiano che ci invita a seguirlo
we collect information from passers-by to try to pinpoint the exact location of the statue, until we met Emerson, a Cape Verdean boy who invites us to follow him;
14)ci tuffiamo in un piccolo specchio d'acqua antistante un grosso complesso alberghiero; purtroppo Emerson non può seguirci perchè non ha con sè le pinne per poter nuotare contrastando la forte corrente ed evitare di ferirsi con le piccole rocce sott'acqua
we dive in a little water in front of a big hotel complex; Emerson unfortunately can not follow us because it hasn't carried fins to counter the strong current of water and avoid injury with small rocks underwater;
15)mentre nuotiamo seguendo le indicazioni di Emerson, incontriamo anche un amico che ci raggiunge per aiutarci nella ricerca e finalmente...eccola!

16) è uno spettacolo poter vedere la statua di Gesù Cristo sommersa circondata dai pesci tropicali quasi volessero abbracciarla e proteggerla;
