Ottawa, Canada Travel Guide - Must-See Attractions
Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and the fourth largest city in the country. Ottawa is situated on the south bank of the Ottawa River, and contains the mouths of the Rideau River and Rideau Canal. The older part of the city (including what remains of Bytown) is known as Lower Town, and occupies an area between the canal and the rivers.
The most important places to visit in Ottawa are: Parliament building (undoubtedly among the most beautiful parliament buildings in the world. It should be a must see for all visitors to Ottawa), Chateau Laurier (now part of a hotel. This famous Ottawa landmark retains much of its grandeur, inside you'll find luxurious settings and ornate decor), Supreme Court of Canada (take a tour of this important building. You can even attend the hearings here), Notre Dame Basilica (constructed in the 19th century this beautiful church is among the surviving churches of Ottawa), Rideau Canal (it's a UNESCO world heritage site. The canals offers excellent views of the city. In winter time, it's transformed into a massive skating rink) and many more.

The Trent-Severn Waterway is one of Canada’s national historic sites. By 1920, it was open to thru navigation across central Ontario from Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay. This 386 km stretch of scenic lakes, rivers and locks was created over a period of 87 years in conjunction with the water transport needs of the local lumber industry and the neighbouring communities. Subsequent ongoing development and improvements to the infrastructure since 1920 have resulted in a modern recreational waterway which locks over 120,000 boats per season. Parks Canada is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the 43 locks and 125 dams controlling the water flows in this 18,600 sq km area.
Our Quinte Cruises navigate a 370 km (231 mile) section of the Trent-Severn Waterway, Bay of Quinte and St. Lawrence River/Thousand Islands.

Tedford's Lake Lodge - Gananoque Lake - Ontario
Just a wonderful view of many from Tedford's Lake Lodge in Gananoque, Ontario. Been going back there for years and they have great accomodations as well as boat rentals that are inexpensive. Three squares a day are cooked right there and you will have more food then you will ever need. Desserts are Terri's specialty!

Brought my camera yesterday on my walk, in case I came across some interesting storm damage. This is the lake spillway, which surprised me. Thought it would really be ripping.
