In every sense this was our vacation from travel as we completely went offline. As online workers, it was refreshing knowing we had no access to the internet and that our only immediate concern was to relax and have fun.
We spent the majority of our week long stay enjoying the beach. If we weren't splashing and riding waves in the turquoise water we were keeping cool under a sun umbrella or gazebo. Our biggest concern of the day was deciding what to wear as all of our food and drinks were included for the entire week. Whether we wanted to order a pizza at 3 pm or have a buffet lunch or dinner was entirely up to us.
Moreover, we had the opportunity to drink all kinds of delicious nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages such as Pina Colada, Cuba Libre, Cuban Rum, Bucanero, Cerveza Cristal, TuKola Ciego Montero, Cristal Beer, Cuban Beer and Rum and Coke.
On afternoons that weren't spent at the beach, we often were hanging out at the pool participating in aqua aerobics, yoga, tai chi or life sized chess.
The few times we set our alarms in the morning, we were rewarded with spectacular sunrises and in the evening brilliant sunsets.
There was also a small village at the perimeter of our resort where we could pick up Cuba souvenirs such as Cuban cigars and Cuban paintings.
For nighttime entertainment we enjoyed live Cuban music and dance performances including Cha-cha, Mambo, Rumba and Salsa.
The week flew by and this is the type of Cuban vacation I've always dreamed off. If we reach a point where we feel stressed out or in need of a digital detox we'll certainly considering coming back to Cuba again.
Our honeymoon in Cuba: Cuba vacation in Cayo Santa Maria
This week Sam and I are in Cuba on our honeymoon. Woo! So yeah, we're going to be spending a full week here at an all inclusive. We are staying in Cayo Santa Maria and we are going to be showing you what it is like to just take a week off, relax and not really travel.
I think it is beach time.
After a year and a half of round the world travels, we wanted our honeymoon to be very relaxed and easy going. This was very unlike us, but we didn't plan any side trips or run around touring attractions. Our trip to Cuba was all about enjoying the beach, drinking pina coladas, and cooling off in the pool. The Caribbean is home to some spectacular beaches, but we think Cuba may have the best of them all!
So it is time to play life sized chess. I think I can probably beat Sam.
So how was that easy victory of yours? Huh? Let's count how many pieces I have left. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. And I only have my King. That is so rude. You didn't let your new bride win. Domination. Domination.
Cuban singing, dancing and performing.
The most work we did was set the alarm clock to go catch a beach sunrise.
One of the best part of being at an all inclusive resort is the endless supply of drinks.
Rum and coke.
Pina Colada.
Bucanero.
Cola Ciego Montero
Cristal
So it must be over forty degrees today and the sea is a bit choppy so it is a perfect day for the pool.
The pool was the heart of the action. By 10 am the crowd had descended for an endless flow of rum. There were also lots of fun activities like water aerobics to keep everyone entertained.
While we didn't leave the resort, we did make some time to pick up a few souvenirs to take back home. Cuban rum, anyone?
And aside from that, we just spent more time at the beach! The waters were so calm and inviting, that we often spent the whole day there just reading book and enjoying the beauty of it all.
And that's a little taste of our Cuban honeymoon. If you're looking for a relaxed sun destination, then Cuba won't disappoint!

Finally, it was time to sail to Cuba. We celebrated Oskars birthday on our way there.
We sailed to Santiago de Cuba and it was something totally different from the other islands in the Caribbean. We loved it.

Visiting Cuba
Timeworn yet radiant, run down yet stately, fun yet maddeningly disappointing - Cuba is a nation of indefinable enchantment.
Expect the Unexpected
Cuba resemble a ruler in a poor man's jacket; behind the occasionally shabby exteriors, gold clean waits. It's these rich divisions that make go here the energizing, invigorating crazy ride it is. Caught in a period twist and reeling from a monetary ban that has ground for more than a large portion of a century, this is a nation where you can wave farewell to Western surenesses and expect the unforeseen. In the event that Cuba were a book, it would be James Joyce's Ulysses; layered, hard to get a handle on, serially misconstrued, yet – most importantly – a work of art.
Verifiable Heritage
Carefully saved, Cuba's provincial urban areas haven't changed much since black powder rifle toting privateers stalked the Caribbean. The climate and design is especially mixing in the Unesco-recorded urban communities – Havana, Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Camagüey – where gaudy squares and cobbled avenues tell recent stories of extravagance and interest. Somewhere else numerous structures lie destroyed and worn out like maturing dames sitting tight for a facelift. With more supports, these treasures may yet imitate the provincial fortunes in Havana and Trinidad, additional confirmation that the shielding of Cuba's verifiable legacy has been one of the upset's most noteworthy accomplishments.
Past the Beaches
Despite the fact that the alluring bends of white sand that pepper its north drift are superb, investigate past Cuba's shorelines and you're in an alternate space, a place where there is fruitful woodlands and crocodile-swarmed swamps, the suburbs free wide open and rough mountains as well known for their progressive old stories with respect to their endemic species. Cuba, once watched German researcher Alexander von Humboldt, is a sort of Caribbean Galapagos where opposing interests coincide.
Why I Love Cuba
By Brendan Sainsbury, Writer
When I consider Cuba, I generally think about my first night back in Havana after a break; the bustling barometrical lanes, the depictions of lives lived out in the open, and the unmistakable smells: tropical papaya blended with tobacco leaf, petrol and smelly floor coverings. Cuba is a taboo natural product, a perplexing nation of head-scratching disagreements, which, however ordinarily you visit, will never enough answer every one of your inquiries. Above all else I cherish Cuba's musicality, hearty culture, brilliantly saved history, and the way that it can baffle you one moment and out of the blue rouse you the following.
Social Eclecticism
Cuba hemorrhages music; a dynamic blend of styles depicted by fans as a relationship between the African drum and the Spanish guitar. Permitted to marinate for more than 500 years, these various sounds have brought forth a complex culture, shading it with echoes of Africa, glimmers of frontier Spain, phantoms of Taíno tribes, and social characteristics imported from Haiti, Jamaica, France and even China. The magnificence lies in its layers and subtleties. It's a diversity that is reflected in its move, engineering, dialect, religion, and – most unequivocally – its rainbow of individuals.

Cuba Travel Doc - Part 10
The Republic of Cuba consists of the island of Cuba (the largest and second-most populous island of the Greater Antilles), Isla de la Juventud and several adjacent small islands. Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is south of the eastern United States and The Bahamas, west of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti and east of Mexico. The Cayman Islands and Jamaica are to the south. The national flower is Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig, most often known as flor de mariposa (Butterfly Flower) and the national bird is Tocororo or Cuban Trogon from the family of Trogonidae.[8]
Cuba is the most populous insular nation in the Caribbean. Its people, culture and customs draw from several sources including the aboriginal Taíno and Ciboney peoples, the period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves, and its proximity to the United States. The name Cuba comes from the Taíno language the exact meaning of which is unclear, but may be translated either where fertile land is abundant (cubao) or great place (coabana). The island has a tropical climate that is moderated by the surrounding waters; however, the warm temperatures of the Caribbean Sea and the fact that the island of Cuba sits across the access to the Gulf of Mexico combine to make Cuba prone to frequent hurricanes. Cuba's main island, at 766 miles (1,233 km) long, is the world's 17th largest.
