Olt County is a county of Romania on the border with Bulgaria, in the historical regions of Oltenia and Muntenia . The capital city is Slatina. On 24 August 2017, the Olt County Council decided to hold a local referendum on 15 October 2017 on the proposal to change the county name to Olt-Romanați. The local referendum was eventually held on 7 October 2018, at the same time with the constitutional referendum regarding the change of the definition of the family as provided by Article 48 of the Romanian Constitution in order to outlaw same-sex marriage.     The Iron Gates is a gorge on the river Danube. It forms part of the boundary between Serbia and Romania . In the broad sense it encompasses a route of 134 km ; in the narrow sense it only encompasses the last barrier on this route, just beyond the Romanian city of Orșova, that contains two hydroelectric dams, with two power stations, Iron Gate I Hydroelectric Power Station and Iron Gate II Hydroelectric Power Station.
