2.Balaram Palace
The Lohani Nawab who reigned over the region of Palanpur or Banaskantha was believed to have utilized the Balaram Palace as his favourite resting place. Historical records claim that the Balaram Place was constructed between the years 1922 and 1936, by the 29th king of Palanpur. The interiors of this grand palace have been inspired by the neo-classical and baroque style of architecture. The total area occupied by this palace measures about 542 square kilometres. Lush green forests and gardens surround this magnificent palace. However, currently, this palace, which was once enjoyed by Nawabs and kings as a hunting retreat has now been transformed into a resort. It is situated at the topmost point of the area in northern Gujarat.
3.Balaram Mahadev Temple
The sacred temple of Balram Mahadev is situated about 12 kms from in Banaskantha district. The palaces of the Nawab and Hindu Temples are also worth seeing. The palace is in a neo-Classical Baroque style, with arcades and classical columns. It has now been taken over by a private entrepreneur, and opened as a resort. The huge gardens, their contours clearly defined, have been landscaped to blend exotic plants, bridges and ramps for easy access into the original Nawabi design. The entrance pathway is lit by lampposts resembling parabadis, the traditional bird feeding posts of Gujarat. The place has been painted in a gracious creamy tone, and glass has been added to protect the interiors from dust. Interiors have been newly appointed, as the original furniture was stolen, with modern handcrafted pieces, and western style bathrooms, televisions, telephones and refrigerators have been added to the rooms for the modern traveller.
4.Gabbar Hill, Ambaji
Gabbar (or Gabbargadh), a small hillock about four km to the west of Ambaji village, is believed to have been the original seat of the goddess, the site of Krishna's tonsorial ceremony (ritual head-shaving), and the abode of the divine Mahishasur-Mardini.
The hill is very steep and difficult to climb. There are 300 stone steps at the foot of the hill after which the pilgrims have to climb through a narrow dangerous track. On the flat top of the hill there is a small niche facing the temple of Ambaji, in which a well-protected lamp is kept constantly burning, and can be seen from the main Ambaji temple at night. There are footprints of the Goddess under a pipal tree, which are worshipped.
5.Keerti Stambh, Palanpur

Today it is a sturdy symbol of the city's glory, and provides a record of Palanpur's evolution, with the list of the rulers of Jhalore and Palanpur being engraved on it. The Kirti Stambh was inaugurated by the great General Sir Gangasinghji, the Maharaja of Bikaner.

Palampur Himachal Pradesh Tourist Places | Top Best Places to Visit in Palampur | DTS VLOGS
Palampur Himachal Pradesh Tourist Places India | Top Best Places to Visit in palampur | DTS VLOGS.......Palampur is a hill station and a municipal council in the Kangra Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is the tea capital of northwest India, surrounded by pine forests and flanked by the Dhauladhar ranges. The town derives its name from the local word palum, meaning lots of water. There are numerous streams flowing from the mountains to the plains from Palampur. The combination of greenery and water gives Palampur a distinctive look.
History
Palampur is an important city located in Kangra Valley. It is a famous hill station and was once a part of the Jalandhar kingdom. The town came into being when Dr. Jameson, Superintendent of Botanical Gardens, introduced the tea bush from Almora in 1849. The bush thrived and so did the town which became a focus of the European tea estate owners with an exception of the famous (former) Wah Tea Estate which was owned by Nawab Muhammad Hayat Khan and his descendants, until 1947.[2] Since then, the Kangra tea of Palampur has been known internationally.
The first prime minister of independent India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru visited Palampur in 1941 when it was still British India. There is a Nehru Chowk in Palampur to commemorate this event.
Evolution
Pre-independence
During the second half of 18th century, with success of tea estates in Palampur area, the original settlement started developing. In 1888, it was made a tehsil headquarter, by shifting the same from Bhawarna. The tea estate owners impressed upon the administration to bring infrastructure like St. Paul's School, colleges and hospital. It also became a centre of labourers engaged in plucking of tea leaves and packing, transportation and marketing thereof.
The earthquake of 1905 left a trail of destruction. Therefore, building style, projections and building material had to be modified. The tehsil complex, school and church towards T-Bud Hotel were built during British Period. Consequent upon laying of railway line for hydro-electric project at Joginder Nagar in 1927 and thereby installation of railway station and staff quarters, construction activity grew fast. Increase in the employment, led to investment in the area, whereby multifarious development including roads took place.
Markets
The markets in Palampur are one of the most upscale markets in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Numerous shopping complexes have mushroomed during the last decade and showrooms of internationally renowned brands have come up. Besides this, old co-operatives like Bhuttico, which are hallmarked for their quality in woolens, have also set up shops.
The markets has numerous shops where you can buy grocery, fresh fruit and vegetables, stationery, electrical appliances and almost anything that you may require. There are numerous restaurants serving a myriad of fare including Chinese, Continental, Indian and so on. There are a few places where you can taste authentic local food too. Also some hotels and dhabas serve the traditional Kangri Dham which is confined to this particular part of the world.
In addition, 3M Plaza Shopping Mall at Maranda (Mall and Pearl Cinema Multiplex) & Grand Plaza at Scandal Point, Palampur are commercial complexes where almost all apparels branded showrooms/multi-branded showrooms are present. Also fast food chains like Dominos, Cafe Coffee Day, Republic of Chicken etc. also operate their outlets from different parts of the city.
Geography
Palampur is at 32.12°N 76.53°E,[5] at a height of 1,470 meters above sea level. The highest point, Birni Mata temple, is at a height of 2,170 meters. It is close to the Dhauladhar Range. It is in the northwestern region of Himachal Pradesh in north India and is only 30 km from the popular hill station of Dharamshala. Palampur, at a height of 1219 m, is a main spot in the beautiful valley surrounded by tea gardens and pine trees.
Palampur
Behind the town stands high ranges of Dhauladhar mountains (white hill of snow), whose tops remain covered for most of the year. This place is being developed as large tourist centre. A ropeway and an amusement park are on the way to be established here. An agricultural university is functioning nearby. An Ayurvedic hospital and one Ayurvedic medical college is in Paprola is about 10 km away. Some tea factories are in operation. Kangra valley is known as a tea capital of India; this tea was quite famous among the British.
On the outskirts of Palampur, Neugal stream is a thin streak running over stony ground far below the cliff. It offers great scenic beauty with snow-covered peaks. There is a trek to Bundla Falls which cascade from a height of 100 meters. A recreational spot, called Saurabh Van Vihar, in Bundla, gets its name from Capt. Saurabh Kalia who hails from Palampur.

Palampur: Himachal Pradesh, India: Heaven Can Wait
One fine summer we (my wife and I) decided to go somewhere to some place, preferably the Mountains and to a place which was off the tourist path.
I mean where we go to enjoy nature in its unscathed avatar and where a late night meant 7.30 pm. No clubbing, no internet (And guess what? I survived!) no late night dinners and..no shopping, no malls.
What I wanted was a detoxification but not of the Five Star-stay variety.
Luckily I found the exact location in picture-postcard Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, a relatively unknown small colony in North India, located at 4,000 feet above sea levels. Darshna, my wife and I booked a cottage rental for five nights and was, probably, on retrospective, the finest vacationing decision I have ever taken in many years and proved two things.
(1) That one need not need luxurious surroundings to enjoy a vacation
(2) One should not avoid a vacation simply because the distance is daunting as it took us 40 hours (by train and car) to reach Palampur.
Surrounded by the mighty Dhauladhar Mountains which are perpetually snow clad, this petite settlement is nestled amongst gushing streams, monasteries, temples and treks, para gliding sites, tea gardens and the most incredible of natural wonders one can ever hope to find.
A virtually crime free settlement, there was no need to lock our bags or even a need to rooms close our rooms at night. It's also one of the cleanest towns I have ever seen in India and needless to say, a pristine atmosphere. Additionally, used as a base it is home to many known neighbouring sights like DharamShala and Macleodgunj (home to The Dalai Lama) and not so prevalent (but unusually isolated with jaw-dropping sights) villages like Jiya, Gopalpur and Naddi.
The nine minute tube highlights all the region has to offer and still it does not do any justice to the place.
Even today I keep on pinching myself when I go through the photographs: Was this real? Was this not surreal? Go! GO before it gets corrupted by modernism and vacationers...
