Barcelona Travel Guide + 18 hidden secrets:
The vibrant Barcelona Nightlife in Spain lasts until the early hours every day. You'll be able to find a packed jam any time of the week. Straight up, Nasty Mondays at Sala Apolo is the best party in Barcelona. The whole town pours into this large nightclub with a giant dance floor every Monday. Do not miss out! Especially, on your first Monday in Barcelona so you can make many new local friends.
Besides Nasty Mondays, I recommend Jamboree for a fun international party, the lineups at Jamboree will get long around 1am to 2am on weekends. For a solid techno party head over to Moog, the lineups at Moog can be even longer so do come early around 11pm, since they are known for the best underground techno jams in Spain.
If you are looking for an upscale nightclub, you'll have a blast at Shocko. Shocko is located on the Barcelona boulevard next to Pacha Barcelona and Opium, 2 other popular nightclubs but are usually very expensive with too many wannabe baller dudes and gold-diggers, not sure if you are in to that sorta thing but do be aware of what you get yourself into.
The atmosphere in the Barcelona Nightlife was excellent but remember that you'll be sweating buckets during the summer months, especially in crowded underground places like Moog and Jamboree. In that case head all the way to the other side of town for the most epic outdoor dance floor at La Terrraza, but is only open on Fridays and Saturdays with often famous DJs ripping up a few fantastic sets. Do make this a high priority on your party bucket list for Barcelona.
In conclusion, Barcelona has a great nightlife but if you do not want to deal with the logistics, join the Barcelona Backpacker Nightlife tour for just $17 USD or purchase the FREE entrance Barcelona Nightclub Pass for just $17 USD with access to 29 nightclubs which is an INSANE deal. Alternatively, there is the Opium VIP experience for $51 USD if you are considering partying in the Barcelona boulevard area.

Concurs de Castells, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain, Europe
A castell is a human tower built traditionally in festivals at many locations within Catalonia. At these festivals, several colles castelleres (group of people who do these towers) often succeed in building and dismantling a tower's structure. On November 16, 2010, castells were declared by UNESCO to be amongst the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The tradition of building castells originated in the Ball dels Valencians in Valls, near the city of Tarragona, first documented in 1712. Over the course of the 18th century, they spread to other towns and cities in the area, including Vilafranca del Penedès and Tarragona, though it wasn't until the last 50 years that the practice of building Castells began to spread to the rest of Catalonia. While in Catalonia, the Ball dels Valencians began to focus more on the acrobatic nature of building ever taller human towers; their more religious and allegorical origins remain in a similar tradition, the muixeranga, which is performed in the Valencian city of Algemesí.
In 2015 the coordinating body of the Castellers hosted 99 groups such as Castellers de les Gavarres, Castellers de Vilafranca, Jove de Barcelona, and Minyons de Terrassa who were able to construct the best human tower to date 4 de 10, 10 levels of people with four in each level. In Catalan, the word castell means castle. A castell is considered a success when stages of its assembling and disassembling, can be done in complete succession. The assembly is complete once all castellers have climbed into their designated places, and the enxaneta climbs into place at the top and raises one hand with four fingers erect, in a gesture said to symbolize the stripes of the Catalan flag. The enxaneta then climbs down the other side of the castell, after which the remaining levels of castellers descend in highest-to-lowest order until all have reached safety. Aside from the people who climb to form the upper parts of the tower, others are needed to form the pinya, or bottom base of the castell, to sustain its weight. Members of the pinya (most often men) also act as a 'safety net' if the tower structure collapses, cushioning the fall of people from the upper levels. It is not uncommon when not in competitions for other colles to assist in the pinya when a small colla is attempting a specially demanding structure in terms of people needed. The castell is built in two phases. First, the pinya the base of the tower is formed. People forming higher levels of the tower move to a position from which they can easily get to their place in the tower. This is done slowly and carefully, and as subsequent base levels are completed the castellers in the pinya determine if their base is solid enough for construction to continue. Then, when the signal to proceed is given, bands begin to play the traditional Toc de Castells music as a hush comes over spectators of the event. The upper layers of the tower are built as quickly as possible in order to put minimal strain on the lower castellers, who bear most of the weight of the castell. The disassembly of the castell, done amidst the cheering of the crowd, is often the most treacherous stage of the event. There is a form of the Castell, generally referred to as 'rising', in which each successive layer is added from the bottom by lifting the castell into the air, stage by stage. It is held that this form takes even more skill and strength and a great deal of practice. Typically castellers wear white trousers, a black sash, a bandana and a coloured shirt often bearing the team's emblem. A differently coloured shirt indicates which team a participant is in. For instance, Castellers de Barcelona team wear red shirts while Castellers de Vilafranca wear green shirts. The sash (faixa) is the most important part of their outfit, since it supports the lower back and is used by other castellers in the team as a foothold or handhold when climbing up the tower. This tasselled piece of cloth varies in length and width and depends on the casteller's position inside the tower and also on choice. The length of the sash ranges from 1.5 to 12 m, and usually is shorter for those higher up in the castell. Performing castellers usually go barefoot as to minimise injuries upon each other as they climb to their position and also for sensitivity when balancing and to have better feel and hold each other. Accidents are rare during the construction of a castell; however, as in every other crowded cultural event, ambulances are stationed nearby in case a person needs immediate attention. Fatal accidents do occur, such as on July 23, 2006, in Mataró a young casteller fell off the formation of a castell and died. Prior to this, the previous death of a participant was in 1983 in Torredembarra.

Castell in Barcelona, Human Towers of Catalunya, Spain
A castell, in Catalunya, or Catalonia, Spain, is a human tower built traditionally in festivals at many locations within the region. Interest in castells began to grow in the 1960s and 1970s and during last 50 years the practice of building castells began to spread to the rest of Catalonia. In the 1980s, the inclusion of women in the formerly male-only discipline inaugurated the golden age of castells; the presence of women is credited with allowing castells to be built lighter and stronger, permitting the construction of previously undreamed-of 9 and 10-storey castells.
A castell is considered a success when assembly and disassembly can be done without crashing. The assembly is complete once all castellers have climbed into their designated places, and the enxaneta climbs into place at the top and raises one open hand. The enxaneta then climbs down the other side of the castell, after which the remaining levels of castellers descend in highest to lowest order until all have reached safety.
