Second day of my trip to Somiedo Natural Park, in Asturias. I go on a hike to the Saliencia Lakes (Lagos de Saliencia), a beautiful spot up in the mountains. And then I drive through the park. I didn't get the best light, but I'm still glad I got to see and know the place. I'll definitely be coming back later this summer.

Major whaling port in the past, the small town of Bowls is a typical coastal village of Asturias (SPAIN), undoubtedly one of the great treasures this region has. With just over 300 inhabitants, this town is a luxury for any traveler wishing to get closer to the fishing culture of this area of Spain and the daily life of its inhabitants. It has a beach in which pedrero can be seen Jurassic dinosaur footprints. It also has one of the 18 fishing ports of Asturias, in the small boats that dock dedicated to inshore fishing and fish market. The village is situated between two large rocks, and their houses, one or two floors, are arranged in a staggered manner .. It was in Bowls where, at that time, very young King Charles V of Germany and I of Spain stepped on Spanish soil from Flanders on September 8, 1517, accompanied by the cream of the Court and forty ships. His arrival in Spain was not as was expected, since a storm altered the course of the fleet and while the Spanish authorities expected in Laredo, Carlos was presented in Asturias, in the small port of Bowls, where he was received in a hostile manner by a frightened population that took the fleet by an enemy fleet. Bowls is also famous for its seafood, palatable to the many establishments in town: crab, lobster, bugre, andaricas, barnacles, clams, llámpares, knives, etc. The two districts of San Miguel and San Roque are declared Historical Site since 17 June 1991. It is one of those towns that keep the essence of Asturian village full of small roads and cobbled streets that cross each other to end at the port. Walking through its streets you realize you look always look where you find beautiful views of the town and the Asturian coast. Their houses are filled with colorful and have a special charm. Visit in July 2015.
