3 Weeks in French Polynesia (Moorea, Bora Bora, Rangiroa, Ra'iatea, Taha'a)

Part 1: After flying Tahiti, the island of Moorea was our first destination during our trip to French Polynesia in 2016. We stayed at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and had a great time exploring the island with Albert Transport's 4WD Safari Tour.
Part 2: Our visit to Bora Bora! Bora Bora was the second stop during our 3-week trip to French Polynesia in 2016. We stayed in an overwater bungalow at Le Meridien Bora Bora and went on a few excursions, including: skydiving, swimming with whales and sharks, and snorkeling with stingrays.
Part 3: Our third stop was Rangiroa, where we stayed at Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa and Le Sauvage Private Island. Several miles away from the nearest road, no electricity, surrounded by bright, blue water. Definitely the most relaxing place and remote location we've ever been!
Part 4: Sailing on a catamaran between Bora Bora, Raiatea, and Taha'a during our final week. We sailed around the bright, blue waters of Bora Bora, saw a whale and dolphin, swam with stingrays, snorkeled the Coral Garden in Taha'a, toured a vanilla farm, visited a pearl farm, watched a traditional Polynesia dance show at Le Ficus, and enjoyed living on a boat for a week!

The name of this property originates from the oldest Polynesian civilization, the ancestors of Tahitians: the Lapita people. A museum has even been devoted to them in the hotel.
Built on the oldest archealogical site in Huahine surrounding a lake, this charming property is bordered by a white sand beach where you can watch the sunset over the neighboring island of Raiatea.
Situated on a plot of 31 818m2, it is conveniently located near the airport and only 5 minutes from the main town of the island.
The 32 bungalows scattered throughout this idyllic setting have been designed and decorated in a Polynesian style while combining tradition with modern comfort. The architecture of these bungalows is reminiscent of the ancient Polynesian canoes.
Nestled in the gardens, or set along the lakefront, each is fully equipped with air conditioning, TV, telephone, mini bar, safe, hair dryer and bathroom with shower.
This ecologically sensitive property was built using the latest technology in terms of renewable energy. Energy optimization of the facilities was an integral part of the architectural concept. This group of islands, part of the archipelago of Society is composed of five high islands, all very different from one another. Huahine, peaceful and wild, the sacred Raiatea where you can find the marae taputapuatea the biggest and most ancient marae of French Polynesia, Tahaa, with it's translucent and turquoise lagoon, Bora Bora, the Pearl of the Pacific, and Maupiti, the most remote with it's sandy white beaches. All of them await the visitor with great joy, typical of the Polynesian way of life.

Huahine is an island located among the Society Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Leeward Islands group (Îles sous le Vent). The island has a population of about 6,300.

One of the famous attractions on Huahine is a bridge that crosses over a stream with 0.9 m - 1.8 m long eels. These eels are deemed sacred by the locals, by local mythology. While viewing these slithering creatures, tourists can buy a can of mackerel and feed the eels. The Fa'ahia archaeological site in the north of the island has revealed subfossil remains of several species of extinct birds exterminated by the earliest Polynesian colonists of the island.

Huahine feels like one island, but in fact it's two, connected by a short bridge. Huahine Nui (Big Huahine), to the north, is home to the bustling little village of Fare and most of the main tourist and administrative facilities. Rugged and isolated Huahine Iti (Little Huahine), to the south, offers the islands’ best beaches, azure lagoons and a serene, get-away-from-it-all atmosphere.

Huahine measures 16 km (10 mi) in length, with a maximum width of 13 km (8 mi). It is made up of two main islands surrounded by a fringing coral reef with several islets, or motu. Huahine Nui (Big Huahine) lies to the north and Huahine Iti (Little Huahine) to the south. The two islands are separated by a few hundred yards of water and joined by a sandspit at low tide. A small bridge was built to connect Huahine Nui and Huahine Iti.
In the northwest of Huahine Nui lies a 375 hectares (926.65 acres) brackish lake known as Lac Fauna Nui (Lac Maeva). This lake is all that remains of the ancient atoll lagoon. Air transportation is available via Huahine airport, located on the northern shore of Huahine Nui.
