WA - Australia - Tropical Winter at the Northern Coast (Broome Cossack Roebourne)
Winter in the north of Australia (July – August) = mainly clear skies and Sunny, dry season. This film gives a brief impression of the atmosphere at the northern beaches and in the coastal areas in Broome and Roebourne (Cossack), Western Australia, as I experienced it in 2009. But this film edit is from 2018, so I had 9 years to think about it… Because TODAY (1st July, 2018) is exactly 9 years after our departure from The Netherlands to start this visit to Western Australia.

Carnarvon, Australia Travel Video - On Yinggarda country at the mouth of the Gascoyne River, fertile Carnarvon, with its fruit and vegetable plantations and thriving fishing industry, makes a pleasant stopover between Denham and Exmouth. This friendly, vibrant town has quirky attractions, a range of decent accommodation, well-stocked supermarkets and great local produce. The tree-lined CBD exudes a tropical feel, and the palm-fringed waterfront is a relaxing place to amble. The long picking season from March to January ensures plenty of seasonal work. Floods devastated the area in December 2010 and many businesses are still recovering.

Karratha - Western Australia 2015
Karratha is located in a very hot area of the state with temperatures that peak in the high 40s. Over 260 days per year are over the 30C mark.
It was established as a satellite town for the port of Dampier when Dampier ran out of room for expansion. The name is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning good country. Other names suggested for the town include; Tanga-tanga, Hearson, Dixon and Nickol.
The area was first settled in 1866 by Dr Bayton and Mr. Whittal-Venn but the town was established much later in 1968.
Karratha Station was, for many years, the focal point of the area. Life on the station before development came to the Pilbara is described by Tish Lees in her book 'Lonely for my land'.
It is a major centre for iron ore workers and excellent modern shopping facilities are available, but it is a long way from anywhere. The current townsite was excised from Karratha Station.
The main highway bypasses the town and it is necessary to make a 7 kilometre detour to see the town centre.
Karratha is a good place to spend some time. The nearby towns of Cossack, Wickham, Point Samson and Roebourne make Karratha the ideal base from which to explore. The large mining companies in the area run tours of their facilities, notably Robe River Iron provides the best tour that includes Cape Lambert and Cossack.
Karratha is the only town in the area with a major industrial area (known as the LIA - Light Industrial Area).

A Very Special Toilet Facility
Friedensreich Hundertwasser went to live in New Zealand where he designed a public toilet in a small town North Ireland .A friend has actually paid a visit in all senses .to this place Today in Brandenburg at the Grüne Zitadelle, ( the last project of Hundertwasser) I was amazed at the sensational and very beautiful WC facilities .So amazed I had to film .Not every day you make such a call and end up 'fishing' .The film is made using my low tech camera whilst the Lumix is away at Panasonic workshops .Just glad I was able to capture this place .............

Coongan River
Coongan River in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. When we visited 6 months ago, the water level was very low. The sound is not so good due to, I suspect, the microphone not working so well through the water-proof casing.
