One Bitche of a City
We went to Bitche, France on 12 March 2011. It is a quaint and quite little town. The people are friendly and welcoming. I can not wait to return. Makes me wish I was stationed in Kaiserlautern or Ramstein. Then I could live here, and I would.
It's a sleepy little place to just enjoy an afternoon. All of the stores were closed, but just walking around the town was lovely. I can't wait to return.
The man at the city Information office told us when the U.S. Army came there to help protect the city during WWII they stayed in the city and in the forest around the city. They put together a marching band. During the celebration of the freedom from the German's the band marched through the city playing. They named their band The Sons of Bitches. It was a cute story to hear.
I highly recommend for others to visit this sleepy little town and enjoy all it has to offer.

The Maginot Line - Simserhof Fort
Visit to the Simserhof Fort of the Maginot Line, in July (2013). Really an impressive visit. We chose the short guide (only 45 minutes) for family reasons. The long visit, around three hours, must be an incredible experience. Maybe next time... Worth the journey, worth the money, worth the driving to Bitche, a peaceful village close to Simserhof. Fantastic and beautiful paths for a quiet walking through a never ending forest. We spend few hours there and we plan to come back soon again!
