KAUSANI || Baijnath Temple || Uttarakhand
Kausani is a small Hill town in the Bageshwar District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. The views from the Town is so beautiful, that once Mahatama Gandhi called the place Switzerland of India during his brief stay at the Town. The town is very peacefull and one can enjoy the beautiful view of the Himalayas from almost any part of the Town.
The temperature is pleasant in the summer months and extremely cold in the winter seasons. One can do trekking in the various surroundings around Kausani. The panoramic view of the Nanda Devi Biosphere from a distance of 300 kms away is simply breathtaking.
Get around
Gandhi Ashram is the most sought after place by the tourists. This is the place where Mahatma Gandhi stayed briefly and written the 'Anashakti Yog'. The Ashram is situated on the upper part of the Town. Inside the Ashram, (Photography not allowed) consists of various pictures of the great leader in differenet phases of his life. The view of the Himalayas can be viewed from this Ashram also is quite splendid.
Baijnath Temple, situated around 20 kms north from Kausani Town and is a series of small / big temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Feeding the fishes just beside the temple is considered a ritual after offering your pujas.
If you have time in hour hand, half a day may be reserved for Rudradhari. It is 20 kms away from Kausani, and a unique experience of 1 Km trekking through the mountains and beautiful scenary to reach the century old Lord Shiva temple.

Mussoorie is a hill station and municipal board in the Dehradun District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It can be found 35 kilometres from the state capital of Dehradun.
Mussoorie sits at an average altitude of 1880m. You can find the Himalayan snow ranges to the north, and the Doon valley and Shiwalik ranges to the south.

1: The Mall Road
This is one of the most famous places in Mussoorie. You can walk or take a Rickshaw from Labrary Chowk. It's a major attraction that offers amazing views of the Doon valley
2. Jwalaji Temple
Jwalaji Temple is famous for religion, nature, and photography. It houses a great variety of flora and fauna. The Jwalaji Temple is also a sacred site of pilgrimage for Hindu pilgrims.
3. Sir George Everest’s House
Located along Mall Road this place has been home to the famous Welsh Surveyor and Geographer Sir George Everest. His house has now become a famous tourist spot and is just 6km from the Library Bazaar.
4. Christ Chruch
Built in 1836 this beautiful building is considered one of the oldest churches in the Himalayan ranges.
5. Mussoorie Lake:
The newly developed Mussoorie Lake was built by the Dehradun Development Authority and the City Board. Here you can find pedal boats and a beautiful view of Doon Valley and the nearby villages.
6. Gun Hill Point
If you're looking for picturesque views then Gun Hill Point is the place to head to. It's the second highest peak of Mussoorie and is located 400 ft above The Mall.
7. Camel's Back Road
This location takes it's name from a rock that is shaped just like a camel with its hump. Along the road you can see some beautiful views of the valley and the mountains.
8. Happy Valley
Happy Valley is a large Tibetan settlement that's about 2.5 km away from the l;library bus stand. It is famous for housing the ISA Academy, Tibetan temples, and the municipal gardens.
9. Lal Tibba
Lal Tibba is a beautiful peak point that's popular for tourists because of its long trails and major mountain peaks. This is the highest point in all of Mussoorie.
10. Kempty Falls
Kempty Falls is a waterfall in Ram Gaon. It sits 1364m above sea level. The area surrounding the waterfall is full of trees and high mountain ranges.

Uttarakhand has many tourist spots due to its location in the Himalayas. There are many ancient temples, forest reserves, national parks, hill stations, and mountain peaks that draw large number of tourists. There are 44 nationally protected monuments in the state.[92] Oak Grove School in the state is on the tentative list for World Heritage Sites.[93] Two of the most holy rivers in Hinduism the Ganges and Yamuna, originate in Uttarakhand.

Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib, an important pilgrimage site for Sikhs
Uttarakhand has long been called Land of the Gods[44] as the state has some of the holiest Hindu shrines, and for more than a thousand years, pilgrims have been visiting the region in the hopes of salvation and purification from sin. Gangotri and Yamunotri, the sources of the Ganges and Yamuna, dedicated to Ganga and Yamuna respectively, fall in the upper reaches of the state and together with Badrinath (dedicated to Vishnu) and Kedarnath (dedicated to Shiva) form the Chota Char Dham, one of Hinduism's most spiritual and auspicious pilgrimage circuits. Haridwar, meaning Gateway to the God, is a prime Hindu destination. Haridwar hosts the Haridwar Kumbh Mela every twelve years, in which millions of pilgrims take part from all parts of India and the world. Rishikesh near Haridwar is known as the preeminent yoga centre of India. The state has an abundance of temples and shrines, many dedicated to local deities or manifestations of Shiva and Durga, references to many of which can be found in Hindu scriptures and legends.[94] Uttarakhand is, however, a place of pilgrimage not only for Hindus. Piran Kaliyar Sharif near Roorkee is a pilgrimage site to Muslims, Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib, Gurdwara Nanakmatta Sahib and Gurdwara Reetha Sahib are pilgrimage centers for Sikhs. Tibetan Buddhism has also made its presence with the reconstruction of Mindrolling Monastery and its Buddha Stupa, described as the world's highest at Clement Town, Dehradun.[95][96]
Some of the most well-known hill stations in India are in Uttarakhand.[citation needed] Mussoorie, Nainital, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Tehri, Lansdowne, Pauri, Sattal, Almora, Kausani, Bhimtal, and Ranikhet are some popular hill stations in Uttarakhand. Auli and Munsiari are well-known skiing resorts in the state.[97] The state has 12 National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries which cover 13.8 percent of the total area of the state.[98] They are located at different altitudes varying from 800 to 5400 metres. The oldest national park on the Indian sub-continent, Jim Corbett National Park, is a major tourist attraction.[81] The park has varied wildlife and Project Tiger run by the Government of India. Rajaji National Park is known for its elephants.[citation needed] In addition, the state boasts Valley of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park in Chamoli District, which together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vasudhara Falls, near Badrinath is a waterfall with a height of 122 metres (400 ft) set in a backdrop of snow-clad mountains.[99] The state has always been a destination for mountaineering, hiking, and rock climbing in India. A recent development in adventure tourism in the region has been whitewater rafting in Rishikesh. Due to its proximity to the Himalaya ranges, the place is full of hills and mountains and is suitable for trekking, climbing, skiing, camping, rock climbing, and paragliding.[100] Roopkund is a trekking site, known for the mysterious skeletons found in a lake, which was featured by National Geographic Channel in a documentary.[101] The trek to Roopkund passes through the meadows of Bugyal.

TOP 10 HAUNTED COLLEGES IN INDIA
1. Madras Christian College
It has been reported that on several occasions people have heard sounds coming from the empty chemistry labs. They have heard sounds of professors giving instructions related to practicals. Pretty scary!
2. Women’s College, Calcutta
According to many students, the presence of Hastings’ spirit is felt and around New Year’s Eve many have experienced this phenomena. They claim that during that time the erstwhile general’s spirit would rush up the staircase of his residence which lies within the premises of this college.
3. SNDT Girls College, Mumbai
Many people share that around 2 am they can hear a female voice reciting multiplication tables which is followed by sounds of slapping and wailing of children, no satisfactory explanation have been found for this.
4. University of Pune
There is a grave of Alice Richman. Alice died due to cholera in 1886. However, many believe that this is not the reason for her demise and she either committed suicide or was killed. People have claimed that they have seen Alice Richman's spirit wearing a white gown, walking around in the campus.
5. IIT, Roorkee
A student committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his hostel room. This incident took place a couple of years ago and after that rumors started spreading that the place is being haunted by the spirit of this student.
6. St Bede’s College, Shimla
Many girls of this college have shared that they often hear mysterious sounds from the dining room close to midnight. The faculty of this college says that since the college is situated on the hills there is often sound of wind or the rustling of leaves which sounds creepy at night.
7. Kastoorbha Medical College, Manipal
The stairways of the Kastoorbha Medical College is said to be haunted by an unseen person who claims to be trapped in the 8th floor, though the college building doesn’t have an 8th floor.
8. Agricultural University, Allahabad
The girl’s hostel in this campus is said to be haunted. The nature of the ghost remains questionable as there is no common story of haunting experience and the story differs from person to person.
9. Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai
A spirit wanders the corridors of this college and this story is quite popular. It is said that in class room no S26, you can sometimes hear and see this paranormal entity. The mini-auditorium of the college and also the ladies common room are also said to be sites of paranormal activities.
10. Sinhgad engineering college
At night, spirit of one of the engineering students, who had committed suicide in the college, after he failed in his exams, is said to be wandering around the premises of college.
