Ruokolahti is a municipality of Finland, situated in south-eastern Finland, in the region of South Karelia. Neighbouring municipalities are Imatra, Lappeenranta, Taipalsaari, Puumala, Sulkava, Punkaharju, Parikkala and Rautjärvi. Ruokolahti covers an area of 1,219.85 square kilometres of which 23% is water.The municipality has 5,127 inhabitants , but the population is doubled in summer as holidaymakers occupy the 3,000 summer cottages in the region.Ruokolahti is known for its natural environment, for example Kummakivi is a balancing rock located at 61° 29' 36.4596 N, 28° 25' 45.5016 E in Ruokolahti and is protected. 1. Kummakivi Boulder Ruokolahti
Kummakivi is a large balancing rock in Ruokolahti, Finland. The 7-metre long boulder lies on a convex bedrock surface with a very small footprint but so firmly that it cannot be rocked with human force. Kummakivi has been protected since 1962. A pine tree originating from the 1980s grows on top of the boulder. The boulder is located in a forest in the western part of the Ruokolahti municipality, near the border of Puumala.

Saimaa is a lake in southeastern Finland. At approximately 4,400 square kilometres , it is the largest lake in Finland, and the fourth largest natural freshwater lake in Europe. It was formed by glacial melting at the end of the Ice Age. Major towns on the lakeshore include Lappeenranta, Imatra, Savonlinna, Mikkeli, Varkaus, and Joensuu. The Vuoksi River flows from Saimaa to Lake Ladoga. Most of the lake is spotted with islands, and narrow canals divide the lake in many parts, each having their own names . Thus, Saimaa exhibits all major types of lake in Finland at different levels of eutropification. Repovesi National Park is situated in the municipalities of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, only a few hours north-east of the more populous Helsinki area of southern Finland. Formerly a site for intensive commercial forestry, the Repovesi area successfully transformed into a pristine national park. Pine and birch trees dominate the park. Repovesi abounds with wildlife including bear, deer and various birds. The River Koukunjoki flows through the park. Other streams and lakes are also situated within the parks boundaries. 5. Imatrankoski Imatra
Imatrankoski is a rapid on the Vuoksi River in Imatra, Finland. It has been a famous tourist attraction since the late 1700s. Imatrankoski is also one of the National landscapes of Finland. Since 1929 the rapid has been blocked by a dam as the Imatra hydroelectric plant began operation. Today, the dam is opened daily between June and August, as well as on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, due to the construction works at the Imatra hydroelectric powerplant, there will be no rapid shows in 2017.
