Bienvenido and welcome to Murcia! This region is sandwiched between Valencia and Andalusia, and has a ton of awesome stuff to do. So I'm going to show you my top ten favorite things to do in Murcia. Come on, let's go!
1) Beaches
With over 250km of coast, there are all kinds of amazing beaches and costal scenery, to be enjoyed year round. Thanks to 300 days of sun a year and an average temperature of 19 degrees Celcius.
2) Adventure
In the region of Murcia, there is no shortage of adventure activities. From hiking in the rugged mountains, to all along the picturesque coast………..Cycling enthusiasts, will be happy to hear there is also plenty of terrain for them to explore, too. A 150 peaks above 1000m makes it an ideal location for all types of adventure sports.
3) Gastronomy
Like the rest of Spain, Murcia is a food lovers paradise. Serving all the typical spanish dishes, as well as some locally inspired cuisine. Excellent choices for both land and sea fare, however, they are especially known for their produce
4) Vino
You have to wash down that delicious food with something, it might as well be some locally produced wines. There are three distinct wine regions, each producing several varietals worth savoring. So fill your glass and spend sometime with some good friends.
5) City life
If you are looking for something a lit bit more upbeat, head to the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, which make up the only two metropolitan areas in the province. Murcia is found inland and has a population of around half a million….while Cartagena is found along the coast with nearly a quarter million inhabitants. Both are great places to visit museums, cafes, markets, shops and just admire the architexture.
6) nature
The autonomous community of Murcia is blessed with some excellent and diverse natural settings. If you like green, head to the dense forests of Sierra Espuña, or if you want to see some crazy wind erosion go to Bolnuevo, pink salt flats and flamingos can be seen at Salinas de San Pedro, and one of my favorites is the Ricote Valley which has the look of an oasis, tucked between the desert and the mountains.
7) History & Culture
All throughout the region you will find remnants of past civilizations. Dating back more than 3000 years. This can be observed by visiting the many cathedrals and archeological sites. For a more cultural experience I recommend visiting some small towns. Ojós, Blanca, and Caravaca de la Cruz just to name a few.
8) Nautical sports (Kayaking, fishing, boating)
With all that coastline, there is plenty of adventure to be had here too. Kayaking, Swimming, fishing, scuba diving and sailing can be enjoyed all year round. So don’t forget your swimsuit.
9) Thermal Spas
One of the most leisurely activities to do in the region, is visit a thermal spa. I had the pleasure of experiencing the historic Balneario de Archena wellness facility. The minerals in the water have a therapeutic effect, making it A great place to relax and unwind, after a few days of exploring.
10) Golf
If you like to swing the clubs, the region of Murcia is one of the best locations in all of Europe. Great weather and A total of 22 golf courses are here waiting for you.

LAS SALINERAS DE MARAS; son cientos de pequeñas piscinas excavadas en la ladera de una montaña; estas se llenan de agua salada que se evapora dejando atrás la sal. A lo lejos y dependiendo de la hora del día, las miles de terrazas blancas de las Salineras de Maras, muestran tonalidades increíbles que han sido captadas por los mejores lentes de amantes de la fotografía de todo el mundo.
Estas están excavadas en la ladera de la Montaña Qaqawiñay a 3,380 m. de altura, a 46 km de la Ciudad del Cusco, en el Valle del Urubamba. Las piscinas son alimentadas por un manantial subterráneo hipersalino que se origino hace 110 millones de años durante la formación de las montañas de la Cordillera de los Andes (Orogenia Andina).
La sal rosada es algo que ha aparecido en los últimos años, por lo que hay una buena probabilidad de que hayas oído hablar de ella. Se consigue en pocos lugares. La sal rosada de Himalaya y la sal de Maras son de las más populares.
La sal es esencial para la vida, no se puede vivir sin ella. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las personas no se dan cuenta de las enormes diferencias entre la sal de mesa refinada estándar de uso cotidiano, y la sal natural y saludable. Cuando hay altos niveles de sodio en el organismo, retenemos líquidos y eso provoca problemas de hipertensión, renales o del corazón. La Sal de Maras por el contrario es baja en sodio.
MORAY es un centro de investiación agrícola. A primera vista pareciera una especie de anfiteatro, conformado de varios andenes circulares, situado a 3.500 msnm. Moray era posiblemente un centro de investigación agrícola incaico donde se llevaron a cabo experimentos de cultivos a diferentes alturas, la disposición de sus andenes produce un gradiente de microclimas teniendo el centro de los andenes circulares concéntricos una temperatura más alta y reduciéndose gradualmente hacia el exterior a temperaturas más bajas, pudiendo de esta forma simular hasta 20 diferentes tipos de microclimas. Se cree que Moray pudo haber servido como modelo para el cálculo de la producción agrícola no solo del Valle del Urubamba sino también de diferentes partes del Tahuantinsuyo.

If you want to find cultural richness in Ecuador, there is no better place to visit than Cuenca. UNESCO designated the city Cultural Patrimony of Humanity on December 1, 1999, and later in July 2001, Cuenca received the title of the Cultural Capital of the Americas for the year 2002.
Parque Calderón is Cuenca’s central plaza and the spot around which city life revolves. The impressive New Cathedral, with its massive blue domes, dominates the square. On the opposite side, stands the proud Old Cathedral which dates back to 1557 when the city was founded.
Another interesting thing to check out here is Panama Hat Factory. Would you ever guess that Panama hats are not made in Panama? Well, it’ true, they are made here, in Ecuador! The factory on Avenida Gil Ramírez Dávalos, near the bus station, crafts some of Ecuador’s finest hats.

ROAD TRIP to North SPAIN Basque Country Asturias Navarra 2019
Alessandra & I went on a Road trip to Asturias, where she was hired to do a yoga Workshop at Songs for an Ewan day Music Festival. On our way we stopped in Tudela, Hondarribia, Zumaia, Gaztelugatxe, Salinas, Picos de Europa, ruta del cares and Burgos.
We drove long distances and it was tiring, but also exiting to be in such beautiful places.
