Palampur Himachal Pradesh Tourist Places India | Top Best Places to Visit in palampur | DTS VLOGS.......Palampur is a hill station and a municipal council in the Kangra Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is the tea capital of northwest India, surrounded by pine forests and flanked by the Dhauladhar ranges. The town derives its name from the local word palum, meaning lots of water. There are numerous streams flowing from the mountains to the plains from Palampur. The combination of greenery and water gives Palampur a distinctive look.
History
Palampur is an important city located in Kangra Valley. It is a famous hill station and was once a part of the Jalandhar kingdom. The town came into being when Dr. Jameson, Superintendent of Botanical Gardens, introduced the tea bush from Almora in 1849. The bush thrived and so did the town which became a focus of the European tea estate owners with an exception of the famous (former) Wah Tea Estate which was owned by Nawab Muhammad Hayat Khan and his descendants, until 1947.[2] Since then, the Kangra tea of Palampur has been known internationally.
The first prime minister of independent India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru visited Palampur in 1941 when it was still British India. There is a Nehru Chowk in Palampur to commemorate this event.
Evolution
Pre-independence
During the second half of 18th century, with success of tea estates in Palampur area, the original settlement started developing. In 1888, it was made a tehsil headquarter, by shifting the same from Bhawarna. The tea estate owners impressed upon the administration to bring infrastructure like St. Paul's School, colleges and hospital. It also became a centre of labourers engaged in plucking of tea leaves and packing, transportation and marketing thereof.
The earthquake of 1905 left a trail of destruction. Therefore, building style, projections and building material had to be modified. The tehsil complex, school and church towards T-Bud Hotel were built during British Period. Consequent upon laying of railway line for hydro-electric project at Joginder Nagar in 1927 and thereby installation of railway station and staff quarters, construction activity grew fast. Increase in the employment, led to investment in the area, whereby multifarious development including roads took place.
Markets
The markets in Palampur are one of the most upscale markets in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Numerous shopping complexes have mushroomed during the last decade and showrooms of internationally renowned brands have come up. Besides this, old co-operatives like Bhuttico, which are hallmarked for their quality in woolens, have also set up shops.
The markets has numerous shops where you can buy grocery, fresh fruit and vegetables, stationery, electrical appliances and almost anything that you may require. There are numerous restaurants serving a myriad of fare including Chinese, Continental, Indian and so on. There are a few places where you can taste authentic local food too. Also some hotels and dhabas serve the traditional Kangri Dham which is confined to this particular part of the world.
In addition, 3M Plaza Shopping Mall at Maranda (Mall and Pearl Cinema Multiplex) & Grand Plaza at Scandal Point, Palampur are commercial complexes where almost all apparels branded showrooms/multi-branded showrooms are present. Also fast food chains like Dominos, Cafe Coffee Day, Republic of Chicken etc. also operate their outlets from different parts of the city.
Geography
Palampur is at 32.12°N 76.53°E,[5] at a height of 1,470 meters above sea level. The highest point, Birni Mata temple, is at a height of 2,170 meters. It is close to the Dhauladhar Range. It is in the northwestern region of Himachal Pradesh in north India and is only 30 km from the popular hill station of Dharamshala. Palampur, at a height of 1219 m, is a main spot in the beautiful valley surrounded by tea gardens and pine trees.

Behind the town stands high ranges of Dhauladhar mountains (white hill of snow), whose tops remain covered for most of the year. This place is being developed as large tourist centre. A ropeway and an amusement park are on the way to be established here. An agricultural university is functioning nearby. An Ayurvedic hospital and one Ayurvedic medical college is in Paprola is about 10 km away. Some tea factories are in operation. Kangra valley is known as a tea capital of India; this tea was quite famous among the British.
On the outskirts of Palampur, Neugal stream is a thin streak running over stony ground far below the cliff. It offers great scenic beauty with snow-covered peaks. There is a trek to Bundla Falls which cascade from a height of 100 meters. A recreational spot, called Saurabh Van Vihar, in Bundla, gets its name from Capt. Saurabh Kalia who hails from Palampur.

1) Siwan Kabristan
There is a Kabristan near the Barharia Jamo Road, people have reported paranormal activities near the Kabristan area. Activities like apparitions and shadows following, weird and eerie sounds are among some of the common experiences.

This house is near Lohia Nagar and now it stands unoccupied. According to the source, the family used to live happily before moving to this place. 6) Darbhanga school (2006)
It is a residential school being run by the Kasturba Mahila Kalyan Samiti, an NGO, under the Bihar Education Project (BEP). A statement of the student: School main Bhoot rahta hai aur hum logon ko darata hai (Ghosts reside in this school and frighten us). Maulana Islamuddin, a madarsa teacher at Madarsa Fulkania (Baghelaghat), who treated the victim students, revealed that the troubles were caused by a jinn family, which resides in a part of the school building. 8) Rajapakar Killings (2007)
10 members of an impoverished nomadic tribe were killed on the suspicion that they were thieves, the ‘ghosts’ of the dead men are supposed to be haunting the village where the killing took place. Villagers spread red flowers and yellow mustard seeds outside their homes to ward off the spirit. Local folklore credits ghosts of Kureris with great malevolence. “In the event of an untimely death, Kureris turn into ghosts and can wreak havoc on the village.
9) Sadar Kabristan
It is near the Motihari Bypass. People have experienced paranormal activities in the vicinity of this Kabristan, skeletons walking on the road and many have also reported hearing creepy and crying sounds.
10) Railway Quarters, Patna
An evil spirit took possession of one of the employees wife, who was living in the quarters. Her body slowly started deteriorating and she started speaking in different tones and languages. Many priests were called in for help, but they were unsuccessful. She was finally taken to Sudhabay, near Pushkar where ghost fair takes place and a bath from the water from that well was able to get rid of that spirit.

At last night i had decided to go #Nalanda University so i took a train at 9 am from Patna and moved toward Nalanda, biggest station near nalanda is Rajgir so also i went to Rajgir
I went to Nalanda monument nearly at 2pm, Ticket was 15₹ for monument and 5₹ for museum also camera is allowed in monument but not in museum

Patna is the capital and largest city of the state of Bihar in India. Patna. The second largest city in eastern India, had an estimated population of 1.68 million in 2011, making it the 19th largest city in India. One of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world. Patna was founded in 490 BCE by the king of Magadha. Ancient Patna, known as Pataliputra, was the capital of the Magadha Empire under the Haryanka, Nanda, Mauryan, Sunga, Gupta and Pala. Pataliputra was a seat of learning and fine arts. Its population during the Maurya period (around 300 BCE) was about 400,000.
The modern city of Patna is situated on the southern bank of the Ganges. The city also straddles the rivers Sone, Gandak and Punpun. The city is approximately 35 km long and 16 km to 18 km wide. In June 2009, the World Bank ranked Patna second in India (after Delhi) for ease of starting a business. As of 2011-12, Patna had the highest per capita gross district domestic product in Bihar, at ₹63,063. Using figures for assumed average annual growth, Patna is the 21st fastest growing city in the world and 5th fastest growing city in India by the City Mayors' Foundation. Patna registered an average annual growth of 3.72% during 2006-2010.
The Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain pilgrim centres of Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya, and Pawapuri are nearby and Patna City is also a sacred city for Sikhs as the last Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, was born here.

Counted as oldest surviving rock-cut caves in India, Barabar Caves is visited by thousands of tourists every year. Its presence is mostly dated from the Mauryan period, and some with Ashokan inscriptions, located in the Bela Ganj Block of Gaya District of Bihar, India, 24 km north of Gaya. At least inscriptions on the walls of caves tell that king Ashoka dedicated some cave chambers to Ajivika followers.
Barabar caves is also known as Satgharwa which means seven houses -- some consider that this refers to seven rooms in Barabar Caves, but some -- that this refers to seven caves of this area - four in Barabar and three - in nearby Nagarjuni Hills.
These rock-cut chambers date back to the 3rd century BC, Maurya period ofAshoka and his son, Dasaratha. Caves were discovered to Western world through a thorough description made by Alexander Cunningham in 1868. These caves seem to be mentioned in Mahabharatha under name Gorathgiri -- the same place name has been identified on cliff inscriptions at Barabar as well.
Most caves at Barabar consist of two chambers, carved entirely out of granite, with a highly polished internal surface and exciting echo effect. This was a place of worship, possibly with some sanctum in the centre. Now these chambers are empty.

The most unusual feature of caves is their echo effect. Vault and the polished walls in the enclosed, small room make perfect conditions for making sounds. Reverberation continues for several seconds and initial sound is continuously changing. Most likely the walls were polished exactly for attainment of this echo effect -- it must have served well for religious experiences during the chants.
