Paraggi is a bay between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino and a tourist attraction known for its crystal clear blue water. it is a fishing location as well and very popular because it's the only sandy beach near Portofino. Most beaches in the area are rocky, and Portofino itself has no beaches, only a beautiful harbor.

Portofino (Italian pronunciation: Portofin) is an Italian fishing village and upmarket resort famous for its picturesque harbour and historical association with celebrity visitors. It is a comune located in the province of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. The town is crowded round its small harbour, is closely associated with Paraggi Beach, which is a few minutes up the coast. Other nearby beaches include Camogli, Chiavari, Lavagna, and Sestri Levante.

Since ancient times tuna have migrated past Sicily on their way to the spawning grounds. Generations of Sicilians captured these migrating tuna. However regrettable these fish have been over fished and the last commercial hunt took place in 1972. In the past 400 plus tuna would be caught in a day. The last time fishing only 100 plus and on the small size were captured. The great tuna factories that once dotted Sicily are slowly crumbling to ruins. At Favignana the Government has made the once great tuna factory there into a museum and done an excellent job at telling the story of tuna fishing.
