Slovenia is without a doubt a gorgeous country with gorgeous towns, beautiful mountains, and so much greenery. From Zagreb, I caught a bus to the small not so touristy town of Novo Mesto, a place I discovered at my former work desk. Here I was welcomed by a couchsurfer who was willing to show me around Novo Mesto town and castles in the surrounding area. In his home, he served me delicious food, local wine, Cviček, and gave me lessons on how to stand and jump on a snowboard.
Since I wanted to avoid paying for a bus and wanted to give hitchhiking a shot again, I hitchhiked to Ljubljana with a friendly local who ended up treating me to a beer. Ljubljana is a beautiful and romantic city with a triple bridge and fortress in the city center. Ljubljana is a big small city that is enjoyable for all kinds of people.
I love train travel, so i took advantage of riding a short train north west to the small town of Skofja Loka. I stayed in a centrally located Airbnb with awesome hosts who showed me around a bit to the beautiful town. It has an old bridge built in the 14th century.
From here, I reunited with my friend from Novo Mesto to utilize those snowboarding skills in the Julian Alps. We took a ride to Bohinj and snowboarded for several hours at Vogel. For the first time, Iwas rusty but in a few hours, I learned how to snowboard. By the way, it was early May and the last day of the season with good snow on the mountain. :)
A short car ride away, my buddy and I parted ways and I spend two days enjoying the gorgeous picturesque town of Bled. I walked around the lake, visited the nearby Vintgary gorge and enjoyed some infamous Bled cake. My next and last stop as well as the northernmost point of my voyage in the Balkans was to the small town of Mojstrana. Here a local in Bled told me about a waterfall I should visit near the town in Triglav National Park. After about an hour an change, I made it to Pericnik waterfall. That concludes the end of that directional voyage only to begin a long voyage along the Adriatic coast of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, and eventually, Greece. Cheers :)

Lake Bled, Slovenia: Natural Beauty
More info about travel to Lake Bled: Lake Bled — nestled in NW Slovenia's Julian Alps — comes complete with a sweeping mountain panorama, a cliff-hanging castle, a lazy lakeside promenade, and the country's most sought-after desserts. While Bled has all the modern resort-town amenities, its most endearing quality is its stunning romantic setting. Fun-loving wedding parties flock to the church perched upon the lake's fairy-tale island. From Ljbljana, Piran, Portoroz… to Bled Lake and Predjama Castle. Slovenia has been on our bucket list for years. We’ve heard many tales of its beauty from other travellers, but hadn’t a chance to visit ourselves. After some planning, we recently finally got to see the country we’ve been daydreaming of with our own eyes. Wandered around the charming streets of the Old Town, visited the iconic Triple Bridge, saw the grandiose Cathedral and checked out Town Hall. Everything you must see from Ljbljana (Slovenia’ capital city). Piran sits on a peninsula, which is surrounded by the gorgeous Adriatic Sea. While the Istrian coast is known for being rocky, you can find numerous stairways around the peninsula descending right into the sea (where you can also experience really beautiful sunsets behind the skyline though, in fact, they are pretty spectacular regardless of where you visualize them). So if you fancy a refreshing dip on a hot summer’s day, you can easily head right in. While Piran is a destination on its own, its sister town of Portoroz is also worthy of a stop. Its pleasant temperatures, beaches and the sea provide a welcome respite from soaring temperatures elsewhere in Europe. About Bled Lake, one of the most-visited places in Slovenia, thus it can get quite crowded at times. And finally, according to the Predjama Castle, it reigns over the surrounding area, perched high up in a vertical cliff. The castle was referred to in writing for the first time in 1202 and today it has been placed on lists of top 10 castles to see in the world.
To summarize, I definitely recommend exploring Slovenia by car. It saves you a ton of time, gives you a lot of freedom and also the possibility to explore big distances leisurely. Enjoy the best of what the country has to offer, but don’t hesitate to look beyond the popular sights and visit some lesser-known destinations as well to discover the authentic side of Slovenia.
Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did while refreshing these beautiful memories and, as always, thank you very much for all the support and I can’t wait to see what’s coming out soon! :)
