Best Of the Road - Road Rally - Meet the team : Blue Lollipop Road
I grew up in the tiny Vermont town of Shaftsbury where Mom always encouraged me to get out and see things beyond where I grew up. 17 years ago I decided to explore that world she told me was out there, so I packed my car and left Vermont. For the years since leaving my town of 3,500, Mom has always been my biggest cheerleader and support while I've been traveling the highways of the U.S.
In 2008 I started a blog called Blue Lollipop Road to share my experiences: (
I've logged thousands and thousands of miles and explored all 50 states. (I've driven to 49, but Hawaii required a plane ticket.) Along the way I've swapped stories with locals over coffee at Denny's at 4 am in Oklahoma City, I've tucked my Honda between big rigs on nights when I slept in my car at rest stops in desolate New Mexico, and I've been the only single girl in a 4-door car (with only paper maps) among all 18 wheelers driving The Great Alaska Highway. I've lived life on the road for weeks and months at a time, getting up before the sun to kick-start to the early morning miles. I've driven Pacific to Atlantic in 2.5 days and then back, and more than once- alone. In March, 2012 I was featured in a Forbes.com travel article about road tripping:
(
My favorite times have always been spent exploring grassroots America for yummy eats, hidden gems, open spaces, and chance encounters with hilarious characters who I'd never otherwise meet. I live for the road and want to share this Best of the Road Rally experience with Mom because she's a huge reason I became a road warrior! Mom and I can entertain ourselves on a dollar, talk to anyone, she's a blast to spend time with, and a perfect partner in crime.
Pick us Peacock ladies! Mom and I will bring the FUN! :)
