Shakhrisabz
Shakhrisabz is one of the most beautiful and picturesque ancient cities of Uzbekistan, which is located not far from Samarkand. In Persian language Shahrisabz means Green City because at any time of the year it appears as a huge green garden. This small town is 2700 years old (!). Once Shakhrisabz was the capital of the ancient state of Sogd (the city was then called Kesh), and its fame as a center of culture, trade and crafts spread far beyond the borders of the state. In 329 BC Alexander the Great conquered the city and soon Hellenistic culture took root in the city. But today this beautiful city is known for the most part thanks to Amir Timur (Tamerlane), who was born in the nearby village of Khodja-Ilgar. When he became ruler, he immediately made Shakhrisabz his residence and ordered to build a palace known today as Ak-Sarai. Now the historical center of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Shakhrisabz has an important transport significance - through it passes the Great Uzbek Tract, which repeats the route of the Italian traveler and trader Marco Polo.

Welcome to Uzbekistan || Travel Advisors International
Traces of the ancient Silk Route, Mausoleum of Imam Al Bukhari (a prominent Hadith collector), Mausoleum of Shah e Zinda i.e. Kusam Ibn e Abbas (cousin of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H), Khast Imam Complex with Hazrat Usman R.A's copy of Quran that he was reading while embracing Shahadah (it also has his blood stains), Mausoleum of Hazrat Owais Qarni & his mother, ancient architectural marvels like Registan Square & Ark Fortress, one of the oldest cities of Human civilization i.e. Bukhara, the city of Samarkand, the modernity of Tashkent, the originality of Khiva (museum under the open sky), the mysticism of Shakhrisabz. What is that Uzbekistan cannot offer?
Travel Advisors International in partnership & guidance of Embassy of Republic of Uzbekistan in Pakistan is keen to unearth this cultural, historical & Islamic marvel for the people of Pakistan. Lets avail the opportunity to see the land where the mystical roots of this region would be found.
Several famous personalities from different walks of life have their association with Uzbekistan. Such as:
1. Amir Temur
2. Zaheeruddin Muhammad Babar
3. Abu Ali Ibn e Sina
4. Al Khorezmi
5. Al Beruni
6. Mirzo Ulugbek
Famous Urdu & Persian poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib hailed from Aibak Turk family whose ancestors moved to Samarkand after the downfall of Seljuk kings. His grandfather then moved to India during the reign of Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1748 AD. Another prominent mystical poet that has ancestoral roots in Uzbekistan is Amir Khusro. He was a notable Sufi musician, poet & descendant of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.
Countless Islamic monuments can be found in different regions of Uzbekistan like Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Khiva, Shakhrisabz & Namangan. The city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan & the city of Multan in Pakistan are considered to be the twin cities. Mainly because of the similar architectural features & the common Sufi (mystical) order. It is also notable that Naqshbandiya order also started from Uzbekistan.
