SIMILIPAL Wildlife Sanctuary
The lush green, expansive and exquisitely beautiful forests of Similipal feel like heaven on the earth. The rustle of leaves, the murmur of the streams, the chirping of birds and the call of the wild together compose a mesmerizing symphony of life here. With an area stretching over 2,750 sq km, Similipal is the biggest reserve forest block in India. One of the large Tiger Reserves of the country, Similipal is perhaps the only one that has multiple USPs. This dazzling landscape, with its diverse range of flora and fauna and the blooming of rare endemic orchids and innumerable medicinal and aromatic plants, is a rewarding experience for visiting botanists, anthropologists, bird watchers, animal lovers and solitude seekers. This is the only Tiger Reserve with Melanistic Tiger population in the world.
The waterfalls at Uski, Barehipani, Joranda; the serene Chahala valley, the green Mundia hill near the tribal village Nawana, the picturesque Lulung and Gudugudia rich in pine forests and orchidium are places that attract the lay tourist. Devkund, Bhimkund, Sitakund, Ramatirtha are places of worship for Hindus due to their mythological importance. The Eco Development Committees of Similipal offers its visitors provision for night halt, birding and trekking on forest trails. Food and accommodation is available for tourists at the Eco-tourism complexes at Ramtirtha, Kumari, Gudgudia and Jamuani.

Simlipal National Park | Simlipal | Simlipal Forest |Simlipal Tiger Reserve|Kolkata to Simlipal Tour
Hi Friends,
We plan our Trip to Simlipal National Park (Simlipal Tiger Reserve ) bit earlier and conducted our trip by early this November, 2018. We started our trip from Kolkata to Jashipur, Odisha by road on 4th November, 2018 afternoon 3:30 PM. The distance was approx 300 km till Jashipur, Odisha which was our first night halt place in the trip. we booked our hotel through phone call and got contact details on Google.
Around 4PM we crossed Vidyasagar Setu and take Kona Expressway and then took Kharagpur Expressway, NH6. We reached Kharagpur around 5:30 PM and continue driving till Baharagora and reached around 8 PM, then again driving to Bangriposi, Odisha and reached around 10 PM.....we took a halt in there for our Dinner cause we were starving on that time might be for bad, boring roads.....we completed our Dinner in a road side Dhaba and started driving around 11 PM again till final destination Jashipur which was approximately 75 kms away. Finally we reached our Hotel (Shivam Palace) around 1 AM in night and Checked in and night stay.
Road was superb till Kharagpur and after that it's very pathetic....overall 1st half journey was smooth till Kharagpur & last half from kharagpur to Jashipur via Baharagora, Jharkhand & Bangriposi, Odisha was very bad...Road was fully broken & full of path holes...you can't exceeded 40 KMPH speed on that road (Kolkata-Mumbai Highway ) till Destination but we have seen that the Road is under construction into 4 lanes expressway ....Hopefully very soon will be completed.
Next day morning, we started our trip to inside Simlipal National Park / Simlipal Tiger Reserve. We did purchased tickets in Jashipur counter in the morning with our own vehicle, but if your car is not permitted to go inside, you must hire a vehicle on the spot for 3-4K for a whole day till 5 PM....You must have to avail inside Tickets within 6-9 AM in the morning. Don't forget to take your Breakfast heavily and carry enough drinking waters, sweets, fruits, dry foods etc...Cause, inside National Park you'll not get anything except your Lunch at only single place nearby road Barehipani Water Falls. We have entered into National Park around 11 AM and crossed 1st check gate & 2nd Check Gate and finally into the National Park. It was very natural scenic and full of natural beauty but unfortunately we never spot any animals in there except few monkeys and elephant roaring once while driving towards Chahala, which is the Core area. We have visited USKI FALLS, BAREHIPANI FALLS, GURGURIA NATURE CAMPS, CHAHALA etc and mostly enjoyed hill road climbing but you must have to do off roading although there's road. After visiting the above places and when we entered Chahala it was nearly 6 PM.... It was very scary to enter Core area in night/low light condition...although enjoyed the Night Safari till 7 PM and we finally exit from Simlipal National Park via Chahala Check Gate. From there, drive directly towards Jashipur and reached Hotel around 8 PM !
In the next upcoming video, we're going for even more interesting trips around different part of India ! Our motive is to complete trips in every single States of Incredible India, rather every single Districts in upcoming days.

Nature Tourism in Odisha - A Comprehensive Guide for Tourist & Nature Enthusiast
A Film by Forest & Wildlife Department of Odisha for showcasing the treasure troves of Odisha for Nature & Wildlife Enthusiasts, Backpackers and Globetrotters.
Odisha has about one-third of its land covered with forests, supporting around 86 species of Mammals, 473 species of birds, 110 species of Mangrove plants and 350 species of medicinal plants. The rich biodiversity of the state is conserved mainly through a network of Protected Areas comprising two National Parks and 18 sanctuaries. This network is complemented by wilderness areas, wetlands and other bio-diverse sites along the coast, including mangroves and turtle rookeries. Elephants, tigers, leopards, blackbucks, crocodiles, Olive Ridley turtles, Irrawady dolphins and migratory birds together make for a sumptuous visual feast for those who revel in Nature. The best incentive for the Nature-minded tourist is the unique opportunities that the state offers in eco tourism.
