South Heighton is a village and civil parish in the Lewes District of East Sussex, England. The village is seven miles south of Lewes. In the 1890s the village's population grew from less than 100 to over 500 after a cement manufacturing plant opened nearby. The village is now associated with the urbanised area of Newhaven. There is no place called North Heighton although part of the South Downs above the village is called Heighton Hill, from which one can get to Norton, which lies north-east of South Heighton, and north of Bishopstone. Denton Community Challenge 2015

This year saw the 4th Denton Community Challenge. The first event was called the Jubliympics and took place in June 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics and was so successful that it has been repeated each year. This year the weather was brilliant and the theme was ‘Howzat?’ to reflect the forthcoming Ashes cricket series. This year nearly sixty local sports and social groups were represented and many ran ‘sporting challenges’ around the arena, all of which could be enjoyed for a nominal charge. On completion of the challenges the younger participants claimed their ‘Howzat?’ rosette before enjoying a free burger from the Denton Scouts BBQ. Certificates were also issued courtesy of Gina Rogers from Active Sussex, who once again supported everyone’s effort this year.
