Review
We loved this ocean front site. As we said in the video, it gets packed for non self contained vehicles quickly, even in the off season. If you have a self contained vehicle, you will have loads of room to park. Easily the most crowded motorcamp we've been to.
It was a great place to fill up with great tasting drinking water. It rained while we were there, but the beach is a great chill out spot and if the weather was nicer we could have easily spent another day there just enjoying that.

The New Zealanders - Trailer
8 x 60' HD
If New Zealand is on your bucket list, then this is the series for you!
The world is being invited on a trip to visit “The New Zealanders” – an exciting new series from the award-winning television producers JAM TV.Once there, you’ll get to meet the likes of a machine sock-knitting trans-sexual businesswoman, a truck-driving husky-racing mum black belt granny. These eight one-hour shows feature fascinating New Zealanders talking about why they live where they do and their connections to their locale.
The New Zealanders has no narrator, preferring instead to let its interesting and unusual participants speak for themselves. There's lots of surprises too - the West Coast isn't just full of burly coal miners and we don't meet a single winemaker in Central Otago!
With an eponymous theme song penned by music legend Dave Dobbyn, the show starts with The West Coast. New Zealand’s most remote family kicks things off before meeting one of the most photographed men in the country – 88-year-old publican Les, who sadly passed away before the show made it to air.
The second episode – “Through The Bays” - takes us around the Bay of Plenty and Hawke’s Bay to meet the residents of Gisborne’s Kaiti suburb, shed a tear with Bill of Mahia who first made friends with Moko the dolphin, gold medal piemakers James and Dave and a bunch of Napier roller derby girls.
It’s back to the South Island for episode three, “Central”, where the duck shooters gather at the White Horse Hotel in Becks and stone mason Keith is one of just four residents in tiny St Bathans. At Miller’s Flat, we meet a couple who built their own house, complete with grass roof, while, further down the line, self-confessed tree-hugger Bob created his own forest and another family built their own power station.
Back up north, episode four – “Round The Mountain” – introduces us to that Taranaki tae kwon do grandmother, a Mustang enthusiast, a wheelchair-bound woman with a collection of more than 2,000 horse ornaments and famous boatie Happy Chaddy and his mini-me apprentice. The Patea Maori Club also appear and talk about Poi E, the song that put them on the map.
Episode five is “Out The Back”, meaning mid-Canterbury, where we meet the maker of the country’s best sausage rolls, enjoy an evening with Lynda Topp, her new wife Donna and Donna’s rising country star son Cameron, and have a heart-wrenching encounter with nurse Marg, whose husband was killed in the Christchurch earthquake.
For the sixth episode, it’s off to The Chathams, a place few New Zealanders have visited. There, we meet the islands’ sole policeman, the chief pilot of Air Chathams who owns a 1950s flight simulator the size of a house and Moriori descendant Shirley. On even more remote Pitt Island, there's the country's most isolated school (number of pupils: 7, 3 of them the principal's children) and 7th generation farming family, then Gregory-Hunts, who raised 11 children there.
The last two episodes will take in the Central Plateau and the Wairarapa where we will meet cowboys, a domesticated pig called Giggles and man with the world’s largest collections of pens.
奥克兰最大的和最年轻的火山,朗伊托托岛 Rangitoto Island
Rangitoto Island, volcanic island in Auckland
We had a trip to Rangitoto island on Christmas eve, it is the youngest and largest volcanic island in Auckland.
We took a 30 minute ferry trip from Auckland Downtown Harbour, it was quite challenging to walk one hour along the steep pathway to the summit. On the way you could see a lot of the black rocks that were formed from the lava that erupted from the volcano crater. You could also see a lot of vegetation, such as the iconic pohutukawa tree.
One of the most exciting things is to go through the lava caves. one cave has a exit, it took only 5 minutes to go through but it was very cool. The mouth of the cave started of as a narrow opening, and then it expanded so that we could stand up. And the exit was a small opening that we had to climb to get out.
The information below is from the website
Rangitoto is the youngest and largest of Auckland's 48 volcanic cones, and is home to the world's largest pohutukawa forest.
Rangitoto is Auckland’s most iconic island, with its distinctive symmetrical cone and superb location just off the coast. Only a short scenic ferry ride across the harbour from downtown Auckland, the island is a favourite destination for hikers and day-trippers. Emerging unexpectedly from the sea some 600 years ago, it is the youngest and largest volcano in the Auckland volcanic field.

NZ Arrowtown in Autumn 紐西蘭箭鎮的秋天
Arrowtown is a historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located on the banks of the Arrow River approximately 22 km from the famous tourism town Queenstown. Arrowtown is the most beautiful town in New Zealand when the leaves along streets and on the hills turn to yellow and red in autumn. There are many well preserved buildings used by European and Chinese immigrants dating from the gold mining days of the town. Chinese Settlement is a on-site museum at the outlet of Bush Creek.
