Kings Hotel (UK) Ltd Stokenchurch Wonderful Five Star Review by Susan T.

New Rating | Kings Hotel Reviews
The food, service and staff were excellent - the set menu that we had as part of our deal (2 nights b&b plus dinner on the first night) was really yummy. The hotel was in an ideal location and watching the red kites circling in the sky outside from our breakfast table was an added bonus. The only downside I would say is that the room was quite small and one of the windows didn't stay open properly. We also had to ask for a second bedside lamp. However, this didn't spoil our enjoyment and would definitely stay at The Kings Hotel again.

Barton & Pegsdon Hills - Walk ID: 2877
Pegsdon and Barton Hills are an example of chalk downland and offer stunning views over Bedfordshire.
The Barton Hills are believed to be John Bunyan's 'Delectable Mountains' in The Pilgrim's Progress. The Wildlife Trust and English Nature manage the two nature reserves, with their spectacular steep slopes and chalk valleys. The woodlands and streams offer rare flowers and butterflies not usually seen in other parts of Bedfordshire.
The walk starts and finishes in the village of Hexton next to the Raven Pub, nestled in a favourable position below the remains of the hill-fort of Ravensburgh Castle. The latter is viewed from a distance and is striking for its commanding position, although all that remains are earth mounds and thick tree growth. It all adds to an almost dark, supernatural air to the surroundings. The hills make this one of the most exciting walks in Bedfordshire.

High Wycombe Historical Centre
High Wycombe for Tourists, The Guildhall, the historic Antelope Pub, Little Market House (AKA The Pepperpot), All Saints Church, High Street, Eden Centre, Costa Coffee. There is a market here Tuesdays & Fridays. Disraeli gave his first speech in front of the Red Lion Statue in the High Street. Lord Carrington is also associated with High Wycombe. There is also a connection with American Independence because Lord Shelburne Prime-minister who helped negotiate The Treaty of Paris sealing Independence is buried in the Church. High Wycombe as its Saxon Name suggests is built in a valley bottom with steep Combes on either side. The Railway that passes through this valley on its way from Marylebone to Birmingham required amazing engineering feats with many viaducts and bridges.
High Wycombe was a market town but is now prized for its location with excellent communications to London by train and the M40 and quick access to Heathrow and yet to the West of High Wycombe you are in unspoilt countryside!
High Wycombe or Chepping Wycombe as it used to be know comprises a number of suburbs Booker, Bowerdean, Castlefield, Cressex, Daws Hill, Green Street, Holmers Farm, Micklefield, Sands, Terriers, Totteridge and Wycombe Marsh.
