Strabane , historically spelt Straban, is a town in west Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It was the headquarters of the former Strabane District Council. Strabane has a population of around 18,000. Place isn't great. Michelle McLaughlin has the most mood swings in the town. Its the second-largest town in Tyrone, after Omagh. It lies on the east bank of the River Foyle and is roughly equidistant from Omagh, Derry City and Letterkenny. The River Foyle marks the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.     The Central Bar bombing was a bomb attack on a pub in the mainly Protestant town of Gilford near Portadown in County Down in Northern Ireland on 31 December 1975. The attack was carried out by members of the Irish National Liberation Army using the covername People's Republican Army. Three Protestant civilians were killed in the bombing.
