Kochi in Shikoku Japan has a spectacular waterfront, port, Aki,
Kōchi Prefecture comprises the southwestern part of the island of Shikoku, facing the Pacific Ocean. It is bordered by Ehime to the north-west and Tokushima to the north-east. It is the largest but least populous of Shikoku's four prefectures. Most of the province is mountainous, and in only a few areas such as around Kōchi and Nakamura is there a coastal plain. Kōchi is famous for its many rivers. Inamura-yama in Tosa-cho is the highest peak in Kōchi prefecture with an altitude of 1,506 meters above sea level.
As of April 1, 2012, 7% of the total land area of the prefecture was designated as Natural Parks, namely the Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park; Ishizuchi, Muroto-Anan Kaigan, and Tsurugisan Quasi-National Parks; and eighteen Prefectural Natural Parks.[4]

Sharing Nostalgic Ramen with Ramen Adventures’ Brian MacDuckston at Koukaiya in Shinjuku
I’m all kinds of honored to have shared a bowl of ramen with THE ramen guy in Japan: Brian MacDuckston.
He has been delivering ramen reviews to the world via his famous blog and now on YouTube for over 10 years already. And he’s not tired of his noodles and soup yet! And now there is a collaboration with me in his Ramen Adventures history :)
This is Brian's Ramen Adventure blog, in case you don't know it yet:
►
After shooting a video with him for his channel (should be published soon), I thought I would bring him to one of my old favorite ramen stores in Shinjuku. It’s a real nostalgic place for me that will always remind me of my days as a student in Tokyo. And it’s not only a nostalgic place , but they also serve a nostalgia inducing bowl of ramen.
Find Brian's Ramen Adventures on YouTube here:

The ramen restaurant is called Koukaiya and serves a unique and old school style of soup, mixing a chicken broth base with a fish broth.
The noodles are fairly average, not really thin and not really on the thick side.
The real star of this ramen place is the chashu. Small quadratic pieces of flavor packed pork belly that cover most of your ramen bowl, depending on what bowl size and chashu amount you are ordering. The pork belly most likely has been braised for many hours in a sweet and savory broth and then rests overnight in the fridge. This apparently allows the taste to firmly take hold in the meat and fat of the chashu pork belly cuts.
According to their website, they are using Kagoshima black pigs called Kurobuta.
I would implore you to visit this ramen store, once a rather big franchise with 5 stores, now down to only 2, it should receive more love for the great ramen and chashu that they are serving.
