From Jakarta, I ride my moped westwards for four hours until I reach the west coast of Java. After checking in at the Aston Beach Hotel, I see the lighthouse, and drive up along the coast. We retire to the hotel bar where an amazing spectacle awaits: an erupting volcano.
That's right, we actually witness Krakatoa erupting right before our eyes, lava and everything. Totally amazing totally unexpected.
