French Swiss Border lake and mountains at Biaufond, Jura
We came through this stunningly beautiful border crossing on our way from France to Switzerland - note the pill box and sentry post - these were on the French side so I'm assuming they were German and intended to deter escapees into Switzerland.

Geneva Museums - with Nadine Dereza
A short film looking inside some of Geneva's best museums, presented by award-winning journalist and author, Nadine Dereza.
Sleek, slick and cosmopolitan, Geneva is a rare breed of a city: its people chatter in every language under the sun and it is often perceived as the Swiss capital (it isn't). Superbly strung around the shores of Europe's largest Alpine lake, this is only Switzerland's third-largest city.
Yet the whole world is here: 200-odd governmental and nongovernmental international organisations are based in Geneva. And waves of tourists from across the globe flock to the city every year, filling the city's range of accommodation, from the affordably priced options, right up to the plush five-star hotels. There is something for everyone in Geneva, from activities on the lake to feasting on international cuisine, and from shopping in luxury jewellers to sampling the flavours of some of the world's finest chocolatiers.
This series was filmed as part of Sibos 2016 Geneva, which took place between 26 and 29 September at Palexpo. Sibos is the world’s premier financial services event. It is the annual conference, exhibition and networking event organised by SWIFT for the financial industry.

Border Crossing France to Switzerland
On my run from Basel, Switzerland to Germany to France and back to Basel. Crossing the border between France and Switzerland. Notice the lack of armed guards and ferocious dogs.
Crossing The Bridge at Andau
August 19, 2010. The Bridge at Andau, made famous by the James Michener book about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The original bridge is gone, taken down by the Russians after the escape attempts to Austria by so many Hungarians in 1956. This is a memorial reconstruction of the bridge. The original footbridge was not a covered bridge. This is not the same location as the border road between Andau and Janossomorja-- it is about 5 miles south of Andau, where the Austria-Hungary border makes a sharp turn from north-south to east-west. It is at this location where the escape attempts occurred as the actual road between Andau and Janossomorja was only a bike path until recent years, and the border at that point was heavily guarded. The footbridge here was over a drainage ditch in a very swampy area that was extremely difficult to cross, but because of that, was also less-heavily guarded by the Russians.
