When considering where to travel in Croatia it's natural that Split features on the list - its coastal, central and home for a lot of boats and tours... oh and its obviously beautiful. What about Trogir? Ever heard of it?
Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage site and small town thats a great alternative to Split. It's a lot more chilled than Split, a small island only and has a distinctive old town feel to it.
Trogir cathedral, Fortress Kamerlengo Castle and the old town are the highlights - but the town has a small town feel with a big time charm. If you're considering where to go after Split or want some where to escape the pace for a little while definitely add Trogir to your list.

Emperor Diocletian
The Temple of Jupiter (Croatian: Jupiterov hram) is a temple in Split, Croatia dedicated to the Ancient Roman god Jupiter. It is located in the western part of Diocletian's Palace near the Peristyle, the central square of the imperial complex. It was built between 295 and 305, during the construction of the Palace, and was probably turned into Baptistery of St. John the Baptist in the 6th century, at the same time when the crypt dedicated to St. Thomas was built. Before the entrance to the Temple is one of the twelve sphinxes brought from Egypt by Emperor Diocletian. Scottish architect Robert Adam considered this temple to be one of Europe's most beautiful monuments.
Description
The Temple of Jupiter was constructed between 295 and 305 as part of Diocletian's Palace. It was dedicated to the supreme Roman god and Diocletian's divine father, Jupiter. The temple is located in the western, religious part of the palace. Since the Emperor unexpectedly abdicated the throne in 305 and arrived at the palace from Nicomedia earlier, finishing work on the construction of the Palace was stopped so parts of the Temple remained unfinished.
Reliefs depicting gods and various heroes, such as Victoria, Triton, Helios, Hercules, Jupiter and Apollo, are placed in front of the Temple, above the entrance. Doorways are richly decorated, especially the impressive Temple's barrel coffered vault.
Sarcophagi, containing the remains of two Archbishops of Split, Ivan of Ravenna (died c. 10) and Lovre (died c. 1099), are placed inside the Temple. In addition, there is a large bronze statue of St. John the Baptist made by Ivan Meštrović. A Renaissance sarcophagus of Jakov Selembrije from the 16th century is placed in front of the baptistery.
In the 11th century, a Romanesque style bell tower was built above the vault. It is similar to one in the Church of Our Lady of the Tower above Iron Gate of Diocletian's palace, which was demolished around 1840 in accordance with the then classicist aspirations which argued for purification of ancient monuments and buildings.
During late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the Temple was converted into a baptistery dedicated to St. John the Baptist, while the crypt was dedicated to St. Thomas.
In the 13th century, the baptismal font made of parts of the altar partition from the 11th century which was originally located in the Cathedral was placed within the baptismal font. The oldest representation of Croatian king Peter Krešimir IV or Demetrius Zvonimir with their subjects is engraved on one of the marble rood screens. The second rood screen is decorated with pentagram with flowers and birds inside a star that is surrounded by a wreath which represents the Holy Trinity and the two natures of Jesus Christ - the divine and the human. A third rood screen is decorated with motifs of Croatian interlace in various forms.
The Temple's barrel coffered vault influenced Dalmatian early Renaissance art which is best seen in the example of Andrea Alessi's baptistery and Chapel of blessed John in Trogir.
In 1907, a few houses on the west and south side of the Temple were demolished, so the Temple was freed of fittings, except those in the northwest corner that are still leaning against it.

zwiedzamy Trogir [Bałkany 2017, odc. 22]
Kolejnym miejscem, które odwiedziliśmy podczas naszej wyprawy było chorwackie miasto Trogir.
Udaliśmy się na spacer uliczkami starego miasta, weszliśmy na wieżę katedry św. Wawrzyńca i zjedliśmy lody. Wąskie, chłodne uliczki przypominają trochę Kotor.
Stone cold stares! 800 lifelike statues captured by drone footage
Stone statues depicting real people are displayed in an eerie garden park in Toyama, Japan. Around 800 lifelike statues, seen above, were made in 1989 by a Chinese sculptor for local businessman Mutsuo Furukawa, who wanted to keep the statues for eternity. The statues, seen up close bottom left, and arranged in the garden bottom right, are placed in a village named Fureai Sekibutsu no Sato. This translates to 'the village where you can meet Buddhist statues'. Mr Furukawa paid £6billion Yen (£42million) for the statues to be built, and even depict people dressed in suits. Following Furukawa's death, the park fell into disrepair.

ZHANGJIAJIE tour plus Fenghuang,Shaoshan and Changsha.May 2012.
7 days 6 nites trip. Packed with amazing scenery, the wonders of nature and man's incredible efforts to reach it.
Zhangjiajie_ starts day 2 :with the Ten Mile Gallery tour by mini train. After lunch it was a cable-car ride up to Tianzi Mtn ( with fantastic views of the sandstone pinnacles on the way up.)to view Helong Park. A bronze statue of Marshal He Long stands there. Platform availble to view the sandstone forest. A walk to the bus stop where we Q-ed to take the shuttle to Yuanjiajie_ here was a long walk to see the natural bridge & typical sandstone pinnacles eroded into various shapes and covered with vegetation. The unigue peaks and rocks of the Mihun Stage are the inspiration for the Avatar movie.
Left by taking the Hundred Dragon Elevator (Bailong Elevator)down. This glass elevator was built on the side of a cliff 1,070 feet high.At the base was another breathtaking viewing platform. Day ended at the the Golden Whip Stream.
Day 3: Baofeng Lake, situated at the back of a mountain. Good exercise climbing up to take a cruise in the serene picturesque lake and then climbing down steps
on the other side of the Baofeng mountain.
Dragon King Cave next_ huge and impressive, with a stalagmite shaped like a monk taking a shower. Ended the day with a visit to the salamander museum.
Day4: Left the National Park for the city to visit Sand and Rock gallery. After lunch took cable-car tothe top of Tianmen Mountain. Rained. The walk on the Glass Plank hugging the side of the cliff 1430 feet high was less scary with the mist. Took the cablecar to the middle station, transfered to a bus to weave up the mountain ( 99-zigzag avenue to Heaven!). Heavy rain did not stop the determined from climbing 999 steps ( Heavenly Reaching Ladder) to reach the Tianmen Cave which is actually a collapsed cliff-face. At the top was a statue of a winged dragon.
Day ended with a spectacular outdoor stage show set on the edge of the mountains.
Day5: Visit to a Miao cultural village before arriving in Feng Huang or Ancient Phoenix Village, served by the River Toujiang.Outside the Northern Gate is Huxiao Shoal. Here, a narrow 100-meter-long wooden bridge supported by 15 stone blocks spans the Tuojiang River. This used to be the city's only exit, called the Jumping Rock by the local people. The bridge is so narrow that it must be crossed in single file. The stilted houses by the river called DiaoJiaoLou are typical Miao/Tuja architecture.
Day 6: Rained. Took 8 hours to reach Shaoshan, in time to see Mao Zedong's house and monument . Visiting hours at his former residence end at 5pm. Another 2 hour to Changsha. Visited Tian Xin De, an ancient city gat. After a Mao family cuisine for dinner we visited the riverbank of Xiangjiang at night. Day ended at the pedestrian mall, Huang Xing Road.
Day 7: Last day. After the Embroidery Museum we visited the Mawangdui Museum of tomb relics. The family's coffin was sealed in 4 layers and the matriach's body was found well preserved for 2000 years . Lunch was at the West lake restaurant , With its 5,000 seats, it is considered the largest restaurant in China and in Asia, and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest Chinese restaurant in the world.
Lambs, sheep and goats on a family farm, Voynić (on the mountain), Croatia
I don't know if it's the same Voynić or a different one, as there's a Voynić at street level on the main road going from Trilj to Sinj. This Voynić is up on the mountain and connects on the road that leads you to Gardun which is where I'd started from. If it's the same place, then this is the top side of Voynić.
Anyway, I saw a lamb jumping from the street and went in for a closer look. Then I saw more lambs! I'd never seen baby sheep before! The family gave permission to film and post; I filmed until around when the lamb was jumping again - just too cute! lol
