Highlights From The Road to 150 Northwest Territories Episode:
With more than one million square kilometres of land area and a population of less than 50,000, the Northwest Territories is about as wild as it gets. It's certainly not an easy area to visit (many places are fly-in, many roads are gravel, and distances are vast) but for those who make the effort, there are incredible things to experience.
With boreal forest, arctic tundra, some of Canada's greatest waterfalls, a vibrant indigenous culture, and boundless wilderness, this is an adventurers paradise!
We explored the NWT from August 16 - September 1st, 2017!

Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

Welcome to the Yukon!
Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!

9000 mile RoadTrip to Tuktoyaktuk | In Our converted Travel Trailer
In Aug 2018, we took an awesome Roadtrip to Tuktoyaktuk, the north most Arctic Community in Canada which can be accessed by road. The journey began from Columbus, OH on our self-built Travel trailer. After crossing US border, we drove through the historic ALCAN highway again, and even had a chance to add our sign at Signpost forest. Throughout the way, we spent our nights in secluded spots and campgrounds for free. Waking up among the serene nature each day with amazing views is one of the best perks of traveling with your mobile home. You can find all the details about the places we stayed in our website blogs. After reaching Dawson city, we left our trailer at a campground and drove all the way to Tuktoyaktuk, since the Dempster is not very trailer friendly.

The Dempster Highway is easily one of the most epic road trips in Canada, if not the entire world. Starting in Dawson, Yukon, the 700-km dirt road takes you all the way up to Tombstone Territorial Park, past the Arctic Circle, and into the Northern community of Inuvik.
During our 150-day road trip across Canada, this was one of our highlights. Driving in the fall, we loved the fall colours, and the incredible mountain scenery, as well as the tundra!
However, driving the Dempster Highway requires some planning, which is why we've created this video with some tips for driving the Dempster Highway!

Mazda Arctic Road Trip | Trailer | Drive to Arctic Ocean, Tuktoyaktuk Canada
They say that life Is like a highway. Although a path may be paved but it’s impossible to know what lies ahead or where you might change course in adversity or great awakening. Where you might meet people, places and infinite possibilities. Mazda invited me to participate in a once in a lifetime road trip to the Arctic Ocean. Because on an open highway, the adventure of life is about embracing the unknown. And that’s just what I did.
I took a Mazda Arctic Road Trip in winter. It was a once-in-a-lifetime epic drive to the Arctic Ocean (BC Canada) with creators, arctic drivers and auto journalists. Watch the FULL ARCTIC EXPEDITION 3-part series ‘ROAD TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN’
➱
Winter driving started at Fort St John to Dawson City to Inuvik and to Tuktoyaktuk. The roadtrip route: the Alaska Highway, Klondike Highway. We drive the Dempster Highway and Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway (newly built in 2017, an all-weather highway connecting Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk in the winter). Traveling the Northwest Territories during winter, we encountered unexpected arctic phenomena from Continental Divide, Polar Nights, and the Tundra lifestyle of inuvialuit locals of Tuk and Inuvik.
Arctic Road trip schedule:
Episode 1: Day 1: Vancouver to Driving from Fort St John to Muncho Lake via Alaska Highway
Episode 2: Day 2 &3: Driving to Whitehorse to Dawson City and the Dempster Highway.
Episode 3: Day 4 & 5: Driving the Dempster Highway / Eagle Plains, Arctic Circle to Inuvik then drive the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk highway to Tuktoyaktuk Canada and finally, the Arctic Ocean.
Special thanks to Mazda CX expedition team (CX-3, CX-5, CX-9 winter driving) for this trip-of-a-lifetime and making this winter drive to the Arctic Ocean possible and safe!
