Ulukhaktok is a small hamlet on the west coast of Victoria Island, in the Inuvik Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. Like other small traditional communities in the territories, hunting, trapping, and fishing are major sources of income, but printmaking has taken over as the primary source of income in recent years. The two principal languages in Ulukhaktok are the Kangiryuarmiutun dialect of Inuinnaqtun, which is politically part of the Inuvialuktun group, and English.

This past summer (2014), I went to Tanzania with a group of 10 other Canadians. We went with the organization Canada World Youth (Jeunesse Canada Monde).
In Tanzania, met out 6 other counterparts who were of Tanzanian descent. The organization we partnered with in Tanzania was UVIKIUTA, which is a community-based organization that puts a large emphasis on sustainability of a community in terms of the environment and culture.

We spent 4.5 weeks learning a whole lot in terms of various realities for various peoples.
The experiences taught me more than I could have ever hoped for.

It really is amazing when you take learning out of the educational institution. Ironically, you learn (or at least I learned) a ton more.

This video is part of a mini-project I did. I 'interviewed' all 16 of my counterparts, asking them a couple of questions.
