Virolahti is the southeastern-most municipality of Finland on the border of Russia. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Kymenlaakso region. The municipality has a population of 3,171 and covers an area of 558.92 square kilometres , of which 186.97 km2 is water. The population density is 8.53 inhabitants per square kilometre . The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
