Rostock is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Rostock is on the Warnow river; the district of Warnemünde 7 miles north of the city center is directly on the Baltic Sea coast.
This is the third port on my eleven day Baltic cruise on the Emerald Princess. In this video I visit St. Mary's Church and Market Square in Rostock before returning to the ship in Warnemünde for the sail away.

NORWEGIAN GETAWAY Baltic Cruise 2017 - Day 3 Warnemunde, Germany

Due to the cancellation of this port yesterday and the chaos it must have created, we only had a short amount of time here in Warnemunde. All excursions to Berlin had to be cancelled and my plans to visit Rostock were scuppered too. The consequence of everyone being ashore in one place meant there was an enormous queue to get back onboard. We were then over an hour late leaving. Warnemunde was a pretty place to visit however.

Noch heute bestimmen Kirchen und Klöster, Türm und Wehranlagen, Giebelhäuser und Speicher das hanseatische Flair der Innenstadt. Bedeutende Bauzeugnisse reichen zurück bis in die Gotik. Der Mix mit jüngeren und modernen Bauten macht die Stadt lebendig.
Direkt an der Ostsee lockt das Seebad Warnemünde mit Natur pur. Kilometerlanger breiter Sandstrand von Dietrichshagen bis Markgrafenheide, lauschiger Küstenwald und großzügige Flaniermeilen machen die Einzigartigkeit komplett. Für Segelfreunde empfielt sich Warnemünde als eines der besten Segelreviere der Welt.

This Warnemunde Beach Town lies on the northern German coast, and I don't think that this is a place that very many Americans visit. But it sure is popular with the Germans. And, with good reason. It's a fun little beach town that has classical styling throughout much of the town because it's been a seaside resort since the late 1800's.
