*How to Travel to Nagano, Japan*
Taking the Shinkansen to Nagano from Tokyo takes 2 hours.
From Nagano station, you will take Nagaden train to yudanaka station. It costs 1,260 yen one way.
Remember to press the limited express ticket so you can take the fastest train.
The ticket machine is old so it doesn't take Suica, PASMO, or credit card. Make sure you have enough cash on you. With the express train, it'll take 44 minutes to get to Yudanaka station.
*Shibu-Onsen Kokuya Hotel Review*
The room I chose was the Japanese style room with an open air bath named Take. My entire stay costs $1,093.38. This includes breakfast and dinner. For dinner you can choose between western style or Japanese style. I picked this hotel because it had a free pickup service to and from the train station and they will drop you off at the monkey park.
In this hotel, there are 9 different types of onsen that are open 24 hours. There are private onsen for couples and families. Each onsen has a different color door curtain. Red mean it’s open for female and blue is for male. After 9 pm the curtains switch. So you have a chance to try all the different types of onsen they offer here.
*Nagano Onsen (Hot Bath) Facts!*
Here's a quick onsen lesson: The water has to come from a hot spring from the earth, either naturally or from artificially bored holes. The water needs to be higher than 77°F. And it needs to have at least 1 of 19 different types of minerals in the water.
*Nagano Snow Monkeys*
The Snow Monkey Park is a unique place where you can observe the wild monkeys going about their daily lives including the unique behavior of bathing in onsens.
The snow monkey is known as the Japanese Macaque
- it is a monkey that lives in the coldest climate
- in Japan, it's known as the saru
- saru monkeys have a class society where only the elite members of their society are allowed to bathe in the hot springs
- they are known as one of the most intelligent species, as they are able to clean their food and then season it with sea water before eating it
- they roll snowballs for fun
*Final Nagano Travel Tips*
If you have a tight schedule in Japan, Yamanouchi can be easily done with just one night’s stay. I would arrive at 3 pm because that’s when the car pickup service is available. The first day you can walk around the little town and enjoy the onsen. The next day after breakfast you'll use the hotel's luggage service to have your luggage brought to the coffee shop right next to Yudanaka station. Then take their free shuttle to the monkey park. Then you can take a bus back to the station from the monkey park.
It's definitely worth the trip to see monkeys in hot springs, which you can only find in Japan!

Japan series recap. Vote for next series. Pre travel preparations and etiquette
First off, the next 10 locations.
1. New Zealand 2. South Africa 3. Brazil 4. Norway 5. India 6. Vietnam. 7. South Korea. 8. Greece. 9. Jordan 10. Morocco
Again, sorry this is late, I've got a lot of stuff going on with Noble Travel, and sadly it caused me to neglect putting out videos for a period of a week. I do apologize.
Japan, is, amazing, and is easily doable on a budget, but, if you spend a bit more you're going to have a fantastic time. Hopefully this series showed you how to save money on the necessities, so you have more money for fun.
First flights, remember to book 10-3 weeks before you plan on traveling, the sweet spot is 5 to 6 weeks out. Honestly, find a price you're comfortable with and book it when it hits that. Remember to book through the airline, and try and find a flight that isn't too long.
How to find the best and cheapest flights video:
Second lodging, remember to always treat your couchsurfing host with total respect. Again, try and find one with a lot of references, and preferably verified. With hostels, try and find one in a good location, and with the ammenities you're looking for. ALWAYS book direct, you'll save 5-10% by doing this, and it only takes a few minutes of extra work. With Airbnb, find one that has the ammenities you like, has good reviews, and is in a good location, pretty easy.
What to look for when it comes to lodging Video:
In the things to do video I talked about the following:
In Tokyo, Imperial Palace, NezuJinja SHrine Garden, Ghibli Museum, and Disneyland Japan. Outside of Tokyo, Todai-Ji, Kamikochi, Mount Fuji and Fuji Five Lakes, Jigokudani Monkey Park, Kyoto where Nijo Castle is, Sanjusangen Temple. and Arashiyama gardens
But there's so much more to do, it's really what you're interests are. I promise you will have a lot of fun.
Things to do on any budget in Japan Video:
DIC pic, take pictures of your Documents, Itinerary, and Catalog all of the stuff you're taking with you. Upload to a cloud so you have a backup. Easy.

I'm totally shaving my face, this beard is getting too haggard.

Thanks again,

Mt.Shirane, Kusatsu, Gunma, Japan 「白根火山」
Mount Shirane (白根山, Shiranesan) is a series of volcanic peaks just outside the town of Kusatsu Onsen. It is a popular outdoor recreation area which offers hiking in the spring and summer, autumn colors in the fall and skiing in the winter.
Hiking is possible from mid April to early November and offers varying terrain and good views, along with a selection of trails starting at the town center or the Shirane Resthouse near the summit.
The easiest and most popular walk is from the Shirane Resthouse to Yugama Crater Lake. It takes less than ten minutes along a paved trail, and you will often see women doing it in high heels. At the top you are rewarded by views of the sulfurous, baby blue Yugama Crater Lake as well as the surrounding mountain ranges.
There are also a number of longer trails and hiking circuits that lead to the various peaks, craters, lakes and a waterfall in the area. The ropeway and chair lifts of Kusatsu Kokusai Ski Resort, which in the winter months has one of Japan's longest ski runs (8 km), can be used to bypass parts of the trails.
