Yenbai North Vietnam, Mau A | Travel Review
Yenbai Or Yen Bai has been one of the cities that are not really exposed to the world. However, we take our challenge to a whole new level by visiting the hidden among the hidden. This area called Mau A in somewhere along Yenbai North of Vietnam. To whoever went to Sapa before, it's located in the middle of your trip to Sapa.
You would be surprised by the culture over here as they are very friendly and will try to understand you even if you don't speak their language.
The weather here is super cold ranging from 9 to 16-degrees Celcius from November to early March. And the weather will be super hot ranging 30-35 degrees Celcius from June to September.
Not sure about Yenbai city but over here, it feels as if you are in some European countries.
The most attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam (Part 1)
Thac Ba Lake - National historical monument - is located at the eastern
gateway of Yen Bai province, which is like "Ha Long" on the mountain. Thac
Ba lake covers up to 19,000 hectares with 1,300 green islands and many
interesting caves that create famous landscapes - a poetic and green area. Thac
Ba Lake is also a place to experience spiritual cultural tourism with Mau Thac
Ba Temple on Hoang Thi Mountain, which has a history of hundred years. Dai
Minh - Kha Linh pomelo region, along the lake edge, was once called "Pomelos
for the King". Coming to Thac Ba Lake area, tourists can discover the life of
the Tay, Dao, Cao Lan, and Nung people with customs and original unique
cultural identities.
Art Thomya, a Thai singer/songwriter, will show you beautiful part of Northern Vietnam - Halong and Yen Tu Mountain.
Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Vietnam known for its emerald waters and thousands of gorgeous limestone islands topped by rainforests. Let's come with me to explore the natural wonder of Vietnam.
I flew THAI smooth as silk from Bangkok to Hanoi, so I did not have to worry about little things as it is a full service. The ride was so comfortable as THAI has been awarded Skytrax World's Best Economy Class.
Yen Tu Mountain is one of the highest peaks in Northeastern Vietnam, located within Quang Ninh Province. Besides being a famous natural landscape, Yen Tu preserves numerous historical relics and is also known as “The cradle of Buddhism in Vietnam”.
From Hanoi, tourists may get to Yen Tu by shuttle bus, car, or motorbike. If you are about to board a Halong Cruise, an extra day to Yen Tu would be perfect for your trip as it is just 90 minutes away from Halong.
Legends said that, in the 13th century, there was a King named King Tran Nhan Tong who stepped down his throne to become a monk and built a temple on this mountain. You will see sacred places which were created to worship King Tran Nhan Tong.
Climbing up a mountain, you will be amidst white clouds and feel like you're in heaven. At the peak, you will enjoy a panorama view of Halong Bay on a clear sky day. Well, today, I am happy enjoying the fogs and the clouds.
The unique experience of this trip is where I stay. Here I am at the spectacular Legacy Yen Tu - MGallery by Sofitel. The location is just at the bottom of Yen Tu Mountain and close to local villages. This architecture is inspired by the 13th century Vietnam. I feel like I travelled back to the past.
Designed by Bill Bensley, a creator of many of the world's iconic hotels, this place will get you mesmerised by its boutique decors. Apart from its physical charms, you will feel the calmness, so I think it is such a great place to rejuvenate and restore yourself. As this is a centre of Buddhism in Northern Vietnam, there is a meditation class for you to practice your mind and soul.

About Mu Cang Chai - Yen Bai
Every year, between September and October, the terraced rice fields of Mù Cang Chải, a rural district in northern Vietnam’s Yên Bái Province, put on a show of picturesque harvest colours. In the fresh, dew-brushed dawn, hundreds of stepped rice fields, carved into the contours of steep valleys, are illuminated by the autumn sun. The golden-green and toast-brown colours of the ripe rice are luminous. The curving terraces, although man-made, appear to be in complete harmony with the landscape, creating a hypnotic patterning across the hills and valleys. I call this spectacle the ‘Theatre of Rice’. Although well-known to most Vietnamese, Mù Cang Chải doesn’t get a mention in many popular English-language guidebooks. A good way to see the ‘show’ is to drive the scenic section of Road 32 from Tú Lệ town to just west of Mù Cang Chải town. I call this the ‘Harvest Route’. It takes in 50km of picture-book scenery, including the lofty Khau Phạ Pass. There are hotels in both Tú Lệ and Mù Cang Chải towns. Below are my photos of the ‘Theatre of Rice’ and my map of the ‘Harvest Route’.
