The Lone Cypress - Best Stops on 17-Mile Drive in Monterey, California (VR180 3D Video)
The iconic Lone Cypress is probably the most viewed tree on the planet. The tree rests 35 feet above the sea. It is one of the best Stops on 17-Mile Drive.
I was there while on my California Road Trip. Watch it in 3D with an Oculus Go, Rift or Cardboard. Other VR-Headsets could also work.
17 MILE DRIVE CALIFORNIA IS A SCENIC ROAD THROUGH PACIFIC GROVE
The 17 Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, California, much of which hugs the Pacific coastline and passes famous golf courses and mansions. It also serves as the main road through the gated community of Pebble Beach. Like the community, the majority of 17-Mile Drive is owned and operated by the Pebble Beach Corporation. The 17-Mile Drive is 9.6 miles (15.4 km) long, between the entrances at California State Route 1 and Sunset Drive.
29th Birthday Getaway: Monterey, Carmel, and 17 Mile Scenic Drive Travel Vlog
Hi Everyone!
I am so excited to share my first travel vlog. For my birthday, Mario surprised me with a weekend trip to Monterey. We drove to Carmel and the Bixby Bridge during our stay. It was our first time without Rosie, our dog, since we adopted her last January so we made the most of our alone time. We did a lot of sightseeing, a little wine tasting, and shot content along the way.

Exploring Monterey & 17 mile drive
Travel video blog about our weekend gateway trip to Monterey and 17 mile drive in California.
Located in California’s Central Cost, Monterey is a charming city that can be accessed from San Francisco in just two hours drive. The city of Monterey is most popular for being home to of one of the best aquariums in the world: The Monterey Aquarium. With thousands of marine animals and plants on display in underwater and interactive exhibits, its not hard to understand why this attraction is so popular among tourists.
We visited the aquarium on a Saturday afternoon and we spent whole afternoon exploring the area. Its safe to say that you need at least 4 hours to explore everything that the aquarium has to offer. Its also good to note that this attraction is usually packed, especially when you visit it on a weekend. Nevertheless, the Monterey Aquarium is an amazing place to explore and it should be on everyone’s bucket list for California. Monterey is also conveniently located along the coast which makes it the perfect spot to stop on your road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
Another popular spot that we visited on this trip is the 17 mile drive, which is a private road that runs from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach. It s considered one of the most scenic drives in the world, and to get access to this exclusive neighbourhood you have to go through the gate in Carmel or Pacific Grove where a small fee is charged. There are plenty of places spots to explore along the 17 mile drive and we had 4 hours to explore the area before heading back to San Francisco at the end of our trip.

Pacific Grove, California
Often referred to as one of America's last hometowns, Pacific Grove is known for its Victorian homes, Asilomar State Beach, its artistic legacy and also known as the Butterfly Town U.S.A. for the annual migration of the Monarch butterflies. The city is endowed with more Victorian houses per capita than anywhere else in America; some of them have been turned into bed and breakfast inns.
The city is also known as the location of the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the oldest continuously-operating lighthouse on the West Coast, Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, located in the historic downtown, the Stowitts Museum & Library and one of the filming locations for Roger Spottiswoode's 1989 film Turner & Hooch.

Monterey, California
The City of Monterey in Monterey County is located on the southern edge of Monterey Bay, on Central California's Pacific coast. It stands at an elevation of 26 feet (8 m) above sea level,[2] on a land area of 8.466 sq mi (21.927 km²). The 2010 census recorded a population of 27,810.
Monterey was the capital of Alta California under both Spain and Mexico. It was the only port of entry for taxable goods in California. In 1846 the U.S. flag was raised over the Customs House, and California became part of the United States after the ensuing Mexican-American War.
The city had California's first theatre, public building, public library, publicly funded school, printing press, and newspaper. The city and surrounding area have attracted artists since the late 19th century and many celebrated painters and writers have lived there. Until the 1950s, there was an abundant fishery.
Among Monterey's notable present-day attractions are the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and the annual Monterey Jazz Festival.

17 mile drive
Another excerpt from my trip to the South West U.S.A. in Summer 2011.
Took a turning off the Coast Road (Highway 1) onto the 17-Mile Drive, in Monterey.
This area hides the links golf courses of Spyglass Hill, Pebble Beach, Spanish Point, and Cypress Point.
It is also the home of 'The Lone Cypress' (look it up).
A beautiful diversion rather spoiled for me,at the end by the caricature houses, of someone's diminishing fantasised memories, in Carmel. No doubt they appeal to some but seemed a bit 'thirties-film-set' to me. I didn't spend long in the town, so it may just have been the route we took. I found the countryside beyond and around Carmel to be more rewarding.
Don't miss it out, everyone should at least have the chance to see it and judge for themselves.
