Day in the Life | Alaska Botanical Gardens | ANCHORAGE, Alaska
Alaska full of adventures & we ventured to the Alaska Botanical Gardens in Anchorage for our most recent outing. I barely captured a fraction of the beautiful gardens that they have. Someday we will go back & the girls will wear fairy tale outfits & I will film them pretending to be fairies, princesses & little adventurers. Until then this will have to hold me over. ;)

| A Little Bit About Me |
Hello There.
I'm Sadie, I was born in Wisconsin & spent almost every moment of my life living in that great state until 2009 when I came to Alaska for an amazing work opportunity. I would say that I truly found myself that summer, well at least the best possible version of myself up until that point. I also met Justin, who is now my husband & the father of our amazing wolf pack of children. Since 2009 I have lived & loved life in the Last Frontier. We call Wasilla home & in my spare time I enjoy being outdoors with the little wolves, playing with makeup, DIY-ing the most random of things, writing, cooking, organizing, & adventures. Of course there is also YouTube. While I'm not always 100% sure of what this little space on the internet that I have carved out will be, I'm invested in the progress. From beauty videos, to hauls, vlogs & rambling chats, I'm looking forward to sharing this Alaskan life with each of you. Leave a comment, introduce yourself, grab a cup of something & stay a while, because no matter what direction this journey goes, we're in it together.

History
Planning for the Alaska Botanical Garden started in 1983 as members of the Alaska Horticultural Association considered the creation of an arboretum, and the idea grew.
The organization was officially incorporated as an Alaskan non-profit in 1986, and began the process of developing a Master Plan to guide the creation of gardens and infrastructure elements. In 1990, ABG signed a land use agreement with the Municipality of Anchorage. The Master Plan was revised in 2002. In 2003, ABG signed another long term lease with the Municipality for additional adjacent acreage.
Ten years after the initial planning, the first gardens were planted and the Grand Opening took place on July 25, 1993.
Today, the Alaska Botanical Garden occupies about 110 acres between the Far North Bicentennial Park and Benny Benson School. Much of the land will remain in a natural state, with individual gardens-within-the-Garden interconnected by trails through the boreal forest.
The Alaska Botanical Garden property has had many different occupants and owners over the years. Once used by the Athabascan people, the land has since been under the federal, then state, and finally municipal administration. During the 1940s and 1950s, the area was used for maneuvers and training by the US Army, and the trails in the area were a part of the extensive Bull Dog Trail network that extended from Ft. Richardson to the Campbell Army Air Corps airfield in what is now Far North Bicentennial Park.
