Alaska, the last frontier. Wild Adventure Alaska.
Alaska is the largest state in the USA. It is still the least densely populated state in the union and for a long time was home to the lowest population. America's final frontier is the size of California, Texas and Montana combined, making it huge in comparison to the rest of the states! Alaska is also home to the highest point in
North America and all of the top ten highest mountains in the USA.

Wildlife of Haines Alaska
This footage was taken over a few days while fishing for Pink and Sockeye Salmon in the Chilkoot River in Haines, Alaska. The salmon run brings all kinds of wildlife to the riverbank to feed on the delicious and nutritious tough guys - grizzly's, eagles, ravens, seals and of course humans. Sharing the river with wildlife, a balance of respect and sustainability is important, especially when it comes to the grizzly's!
One bear, the lone bear seen eating fish in the river toward the second half of the video, is an old friend of mine. BMJ is 29 years old now (born the same year as me) and I remember seeing her over several years, sometimes with a cub or three. She has had over 9 cubs in her lifetime but I don't think many have survived due to tourists claiming them to be a nuisance when they have gotten into fish coolers. Sadly the solution was to kill them because they had gotten used to feeding themselves this way and weren't able to fish for themselves. Apparently the last couple of cubs did survive due to rangers efforts to minimize contact between bears and humans. Typically grizzly's live to be between 20-30 years old in the wild. I hope she lives out the last few years in peace after losing so many of her babies.
Beautiful Haines Alaska
Traveling Alaska the summer 0f 2016
RV'ing Alaska's Inside Passage
The adventure begins on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia with a visit to Telegraph Cove, possibly the best place on Earth to view Orca (killer whales). We continue north to Ketchikan, Alaska's first city on the Inside Passage. Here we explore the spectacular Misty Fjords National Monument by kayak and float plane. We also learn about the art of totem pole carving and watch as they are created. A short side trip by ferry takes us to Prince Of Wales Island, which has more than 2,000 miles of logging roads for exploration. The island is also known for its luxury fishing lodges.
Wrangell calls itself Alaska's Hidden Jewel and is paradise for those seeking outdoor adventure! Many say that if you're looking for the real Alaska, you'll find it here. The Anan Bear Observatory is considered to be one of the best in the state and the only place where black and brown bears feed together. We take an exciting jet boat tour up the Stikine River - the last great un-dammed river on the continent - and visit Telegraph Creek as well as the Grand Canyon of the Stikine.
The ferry becomes part of the adventure as we head north through the Wrangell Narrows - the single most difficult navigational stretch on the Passage. Petersburg is Alaska's Little Norway and Southeast's busiest processing port, home to the area's largest fishing fleet. Sitka was once the Russian capital of Alaska and is one of the most beautiful spots on our route. We explore the town's history and native culture. The Alaska Raptor Center offers a close-up at eagles. A wildlife cruise to St. Lazaria Island lets us observe whales, puffins, sea lions and otters. A snorkeling tour reveals Alaska's underwater world.
Juneau is the state capital. The biggest attraction is Mendenhall Glacier, which we explore with an exciting helicopter tour and glacier trek. Some of the best humpback whale watching is within a short boat ride of town. Incredible glacier calving and towering cliffs can be seen at nearby Tracy Arm. Side trips take us to beautiful Glacier Bay and the quirky little town of Pelican.
Our adventure ends with a tour of historic Skagway and more wilderness adventures in Haines, including a river tour, an air boat ride and panning for gold.

Chilkoot Lake Wildlife Viewing Tour - Haines, Alaska
Upon arrival in Haines, meet your expert naturalist guide for a drive to Chilkoot Lake State Park. This park has it all: a turquoise lake surrounded by snowy mountain peaks, a salmon-filled river flowing into the sea, and important Tlingit cultural sights. Bald eagles, harbor seals, and brown bears are often seen here.
May, June, and July feature wildflowers and eagles. Beginning in August, pink salmon - the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon varieties - begin their run up the Chilkoot River to spawn. This is the best opportunity to see brown bear as they are often witnessed feeding along the banks of the river. When bears are present, every effort will be made to give you safe bear viewing.
As you drive through the park, your guide knows the best places to stop for scenery and the possibility of wildlife spotting. Your guide is equipped with a powerful spotting scope to bring the wildlife in close, and explain how the animals fit into the Chilkoot's complex ecosystem.
Your guide will select a scenic spot to enjoy a picnic lunch on your way back to Haines. Make sure you bring your camera to take advantage of the numerous photo opportunities.

Hiking Bay Point Trail | Californians Visit Alaska | My First Time in Haines, Alaska
Hey everybody, here's another video from my time in Alaska. Just a casual vlog style video of our second excursion in Alaska - hiking the Bay Point trail in Haines, Alaska. Still a little new to true vlogging, so bear with me here. Full hike and review. Plenty of views as Haines was (personally) the prettiest stop we made in Alaska (also the least touched by humans). Christian does some cool handstand and planche work at one of the look out points, so make sure you stay for that. Take a look at what Alaska looks like at 11pm at the very end - it's a little trippy!

Haines Wilderness River Adventures - Haines, Alaska
I spent an afternoon looking for bears, eagles, and moose. I saw all three - NO moose on camera. They are a little camera shy. Badass bear playing with a stick in the river made it all worth it. If you have the itch to see Alaska, I suggest Haines. A beautiful bay town with a traditional feel and welcoming people. 37% are left handed...coincidence? From a lefty, it all makes perfect sense.
Experience Alaska - Wildlife
Alaska's National Parks have wildlife to experience at any time of year, and at any part of the state. Natural behaviors in natural habitats make wildlife viewing incredible.
