Allahabad Fort - Akbar's fort along the Ganges

Allahabad Fort at Allahabad is located at Prayag (sangam of Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati). It was built by Emperor Ashoka but repaired by Emperor Akbar in 1583. One can also visit Khusro Bagh nearby. Khushro Bagh houses 3 magnificent Mughal era mausoleums and of course this fort which is supposedly the largest fort built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar.

Allahabad is a city in Uttar Pradesh state, north India. Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati rivers, is considered holy by Hindus. It’s near the 16th-century Allahabad Fort, built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. In the fort are the ancient sandstone Ashoka Pillar, the underground Patalpuri Temple and a sacred banyan tree. The Allahabad Museum has Rajasthani miniature paintings.

Allahabad Fort

Allahabad Fort, situated at the banks of the river Yamuna. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1583 AD, the Allahabad Fort is a fine example of Mughal design and craftsmanship that is unrivalled, to say the least. The fort is presently used by the army and a limited area is opened for visitors.

Allahabad, a city in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India is an important tourist destination attracting a large number of tourists annually. Enriched with a glorious history and being one of the oldest cities in the world, Allahabad has several historical monuments from different periods of Indian History, from the tomb of Khusru, in Khusrobagh which was built during the medieval period under Mughal Rule to All Saints Cathedral in Civil Lines built during the British Raj to Alopi Devi Mandir in Alopibagh which is one of the oldest Hindu temples built during the ancient period. this video covers the journey to Triveni Sangam and other places in Prayagraj. Triveni sangam is the meeting point of Gangan Yamuna and Saraswati. After taking snanam in Triveni Sangam, we explored the Allahabad Fort, the fort built by Emporer Ashoka and later restructured by Mughal Emporer Akbar.
We visited the patalapuri temple inside the Allahabad Fort and saw the Akshayavada Vriksha. Then we visited the Bade Hanuman Temple and Adi Shankara Vimana Mantapa. From the Adi Shankara Vimana Mantapa, we will get a chance to see the long view of Triveni Sangam and the place where the Kumbh Mela happened.

Khusrau Bagh (Hindi: ख़ुसरो बाग़, Urdu: خسرو باغ) is a large walled garden and burial complex located in muhalla Khuldabad close to the Allahabad Junction Station, in Allahabad, India. It is roughly two miles from the Akbar (r. 1556-1605) built Allahabad Fort. Situated over forty acres and shaped as a quadrangle it includes the tombs of Shah Begum (born Manbhawati Bai) (d. 1604), Jahangir's Rajput wife and the daughter of Maharaja Bhagwant Das and Khusrau Mirza's (d. 1622) mother; Khusrau Mirza, Jahangir's eldest son and briefly heir apparent to the Mughal throne; and Nithar Begum (d. 1624), Khusrau Mirza's sister and Jahangir's daughter. In The Encyclopaedia Asiatica (1976), Edward Balfour identifies a banyan tree mentioned in Ramayana with the tree at Prayag Rama, Lakshmana and Sita are said to have rested beneath this tree.
And a mandir was constructed here inside the fort .
