Amelia Earhart plaque unveiled at Nadzab Airport
Lae is the last known port of call for American female pilot, Amelia Earhart, before she disappeared from radar during her attempt to be the first woman to fly around the world.
The American Embassy in Papua New Guinea honored her memory on Thursday, by unveiling a plaque at the Nadzab Airport.
US Ambassador Catherine Ebert- Gray, said this will hopefully inspire more women to fly.

On the 2nd July 1937 world famous aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart set off from Lae airfield in Papua New Guinea on her round the world voyage in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra bound for Howland Island, unfortunately she woud never been seen again.
