Mocănița HUȚULCA Steam Train (Moldovita, Bucovina, Romania)
Enable English subtitle !
The train and the music are named after Hutsul, the ethnic goup living in this area of Bukovina.
The route of Hutulca begins in Moldovita village (in Bukovina region, Romania) and it continues near the river with the same name. Along the entire route (10.5 Km) you will be able to admire the picturesque landscape of Bukovina, dominated by gentle hills, haystacks collected from the large fields and old settlements built using local architectural model.
The mocanita (narrow railways train) Hutulca is today a charming tourist attraction of the whole region and brings joy to both those passionate about steam locomotives, as well as those who want to relax admiring the beauty of wild nature.
Narrow gauge railway from Moldovita was built by Louis Ortieb, a sawmill owner in Munich, and was opened in 1888 for the transport of wooden mass. Originally, the route was 23.9 kilometers long, but over the years the route has been developed and the whole system has reached in 1987 a length of 73 km.
Line of Moldovita was used until 2001 for transportation of wooden mass. Starting July 2005 this line is operated by a private company, S.C. Calea Ferata Ingusta S.R.L. (Narrow Railways LLC) for tourism purposes and the current route has a length of 10.5 km.

The route of Hutulca begins in Moldovita village and it continues near the river with the same name. Access to departure station is quite easy since there are signs in both Romanian and English that lead visitors there. Along the entire route, which ends in Argel village, you will be able to admire the picturesque landscape of Bukovina, dominated by gentle hills, haystacks collected from the large fields and old settlements built using local architectural model.

Tourists arriving in this area of Bukovina have the opportunity to visit other famous attractions in Moldovita, such as Moldovita Monastery or the Museum of Painted Eggs – Lucia Condrea.
Moldoviţa Monastery is a beautiful place of worship enrolled in UNESCO World Heritage List since 1993. Access to this area is done very easily, Moldovita being located at a distance of about 30 km from the city of Campulung Moldovenesc and about 70 km from Suceava.

În prezent, linia are 10,5 kilometri.

Căile Ferate Române (abbreviated as CFR) is the official designation of the state railway carrier of Romania. The railway network of Romania consists of 11,380 km (7,070 mi), of which 3,971 km (2,467 mi) (34.9%) are electrified, and the total track length is 22,247 km (13,824 mi), of which 8,585 km (5,334 mi) (38.5%) are electrified. The network is significantly interconnected with other European railway networks, providing pan-European passenger and freight services. CFR as an entity has been operating since 1880, even though the first railway on current Romanian territory was opened in 1854.
CFR is divided into four autonomous companies:
CFR Călători, responsible for passenger services;
CFR Marfă, responsible for freight transport;
CFR Infrastructură, manages the infrastructure on the Romanian railway network; and
Societatea Feroviară de Turism, or SFT, which manages scenic and tourist railways.
CFR Călători, the passenger service division of CFR, operates seven types of passenger train, both on Romania's territory, with rolling stock and locomotives, or internationally, with rolling stock. Also, CFR operates international trains on Romanian territory with its own locomotives. The train types vary in terms of speed and type of rolling stock. In 2010, approximately 58 million passengers have traveled with the company. 10 million travelers have preferred private equity firms in particular on the side lines.
CFR train types are:
Regio (R) -- the trains have assigned numbers from 2000 to 9999
InterRegio (IR) -- the trains have assigned numbers from 200 to 499, 600 to 999, 1000 to 1999 and 10000 to 14999
InterCity (IC) -- numbered from 500 to 599
EuroCity (EC) -- numbered as IC trains from 500 to 599
EuroNight (EN) -- numbered as IC trains from 500 to 599
Special (S) -- tourist trains operated on scenic routes with vintage rolling stock, numbered from S1 to S9
Aside from the seven main train types, CFR also operates night trains, which can be of any status (usually Rapid, InterCity or EuroNight). Freight trains, operated by CFR Marfă, have a different numbering system.
Regiotrans is a private rail company headquartered in Brașov, Romania. It was founded in 2005 and is exclusively active in the passenger transport sector.
Regiotrans primarily runs local trains. Rolling stock is mainly former SNCF Class X4500 Diesel multiple units.
