Cynthia Li - Live at the Ayutthaya National Art Museum, Ayutthaya, Thailand
Live at the Museum is a series of films in which buskers and other artists perform without permission in front of major museums around the world. The democracy of art and the use of public space are key components of this work. It is an indefinitely ongoing series and while each work stands on its own, they are interconnected through a shared distance to global cultural agendas and a quiet beauty emanating from the covert act of street performance. Live at the Museum is an investigation into the collective and institutional affirmation given to culture, while also functioning as a digital archive to cache the contribution of its participants.

Bangkok National Museum
The Bangkok National Museum’s front hall has recently been turned into a world-class gallery.
Part of the National Treasure series, the exhibition gathers the museum’s most priceless artefacts in a single room.
A monumental Buddha head from the Ayutthaya period looks over it all, while a stunningly graceful bronze Bodhisattva takes centre stage amid Khmer and Hindu sculptures.
Some artefacts date back 1,300 years. They are very rare and outstanding.

[HD] Ayutthaya : World Heritage of Thailand
The ancient city of Ayutthaya, The Thai capital for 417 years, is one of Thailand’s major tourist attractions. Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in a city that was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong when the Thais were forced southwards by northern neighbors. During the period of Ayutthaya being the Thai capital, 33 kings of different dynasties ruled the kingdom until it was sacked by the Burmese in 1767. The area, well conserved as a historical park, has been included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage since 13 December 1991.

Ayutthaya temples aerial footage, Thailand
You couldn't find better aerial footage of the fabled temples of Ayutthaya in Thailand!
Ayutthaya is named after the city of Ayodhya in India, the birthplace of Rama in the Ramayana (Thai, Ramakien); Phra is a Thai royal and noble title; Nakhon designates an important or capital city; Thai honorific Sri or Si is from the Indian term of veneration Sri.
Ayutthaya (full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thai: พระนครศรีอยุธยา, pronounced [pʰráʔ na.kʰɔ̄ːn sǐː ʔa.jút.tʰa.jāː] (Pronunciation); also spelled Ayudhya) city is the capital of Ayutthaya province in Thailand. Located in the valley of the Chao Phraya River, the city was founded in 1350 by King U Thong, who went there to escape a smallpox outbreak in Lop Buri and proclaimed it the capital of his kingdom, often referred to as the Ayutthaya kingdom or Siam. Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. Its remains, characterized by the prang (reliquary towers) and gigantic monasteries, give an idea of its past splendour. It is estimated that Ayutthaya by the year 1600 CE had a population of about 300,000, with the population perhaps reaching 1,000,000 around 1700 CE, making it one of the world's largest cities at that time. In 1767, the city was destroyed by the Burmese army, resulting in the collapse of the kingdom. The Ayutthaya historical park is the ruins of the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam. It is the site of sacked and destruction of the Ayutthaya city, its art and buildings by the Burmese in 1767, which is recognized internationally as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was refounded a few kilometers to the east. The city is sometimes called Venice of the East.

Ayutthaya Historical Park
A short tour around the ruins at Ayutthaya Historical Park in Ayutthaya, The 2nd oldest capitol of Thailand. It is located 1-2 hour by train north of Bangkok. That means you can do Ayutthaya as a day trip while staying in Bangkok. And as you can see here: the train goes quite often and the train ticket are dirt cheap. You can also get there by bus, mini bus, taxi and rental car. But you get there cheapest, most comfortable and you get the best view on the surrounding landscape from the train.

AYUTTHAYA MUSEE CHAO SAM PHRAYA
