Every Friday, a chilled-out place to browse handmade crafts, gift items, jewelry, even organic skincare products.
Each Friday, 150 Israeli artists display their creativity and inventiveness on Bezalel Hakatan Street.
Visitors from abroad mingle with native Israelis perusing the crafts, decorative arts, cosmetics and jewelry for sale in a mellow atmosphere. It's open from 9-3 most of the year; 10-4 in summer.
The people I meet here are about the nicest I meet anywhere, says Nir Drori, a jeweler interviewed for this video.
The fair is situated next to the historical building that housed the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, a center of inspiration for generations of Israeli artists since its founding in 1906.

The film “Bezalel – Son of Light” reveals the mystery of the name Bezalel. Through the investigation of the meaning of Bezalel and the names of his forbearers we can gain insight into God’s definition of creativity. Bezalel was the first Israeli artist called by the Creator. God appointed him to build the sanctuary in the desert.
This film explores the four names of Bezalel’s genealogy and through them reveals the message of creativity from the Creator to us: “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah” (Ex. 31:2).
The music is written by talented composer, Daniel Kruglov especially for this film. We are confident you will be astounded by his musical Interpretation of Bezalel’s genealogy.

Celebrating Arts & Craft in Jerusalem
For two weeks every August, Sultan's Pool, the valley beneath the walls of Jerusalem's Old City, thrums with the full spectrum of culture.

An annual event for 35 years, Jerusalem's International Arts and Crafts Festival, taking place in Sultan's Pool below the Old City walls, is the largest cultural event in the country, showcasing arts, crafts, music, theater and food -- from Israel and all over the world.
The International Pavilion boasts arts and crafts from more than 30 countries and a small stage for performances from attending countries.
In the Israel section, the wares of more than 150 artists and craftspeople are offered for sale. Secrets of various trades are revealed, like those on display at the annual glass blowing demonstration. There are workshops for children as well. This year's highlight was a workshop all about bees, with a glass-encased beehive transported to the festival as an irresistible draw.
Small stages and wandering performers abound throughout the festival grounds, and there's a main stage where top Israeli performers appear over the two weeks, such as Noa, David Broza, Aviv Gefen and internationally renowned hip hop band Hadag Nahash (SnakeFish).
It's easy to see why Jerusalemites who first visited the festival as children return year after year, until they're coming with children of their own.

If you are an artist and you haven’t heard of Bezalel, this is the best place to start. If you are a pastor and want to connect with the artists in your community or in your pews, this is essential.
Who is Bezalel?
He is the 1st person in the Bible “filled with the Spirit of God” and he was an artist.
Why is this important?
When God designs a new life for his people, he starts with more just a new law, and more than just new priests. he starts with art, beauty, and fashion. It is almost always overlooked by commentaries, but if you take the time to read it – it is right there. It was so important to God that he commissioned it from Mt. Sinai.

Walking through Shuk Machne Yehudah in Jerusalem. We visited here when I was a child, and my Israeli grandmother used to take me shopping with her. I'd carry her bags home, feeling very accomplished.
