What to Do in Boone Mystery Hill in Blowing Rock, NC - Native American Artifacts Museum
This is a quick look at the amazing collection of Arrowheads and artifacts found by the Mullins family. The collection is now on display at Mystery Hill's museum and available for anyone to come view and explore. If you are learning to hunt and find arrowheads this will be a great place for you to visit and get a great idea of what to look for.
What began as a labor of love for R.E. Moon Mullins and his wife, Irene, turned into a remarkable collection of over 50,000 Native American artifacts. Started on the riverbanks of Georgia, their collection combines artifacts from 23 different states. Arrowheads, pottery, pipes, and knives are only a few of the remarkable pieces within this collection. Opened at Mystery Hill in 1997, a 1,000 square foot museum was created to house the collection. Located downstairs in The Appalachian Heritage Museum, the Artifacts Museum will interest young and old alike.

The Blowing Rock
You will have to pay to see the rock up close but I suggest that you save you money and watch this video. The rock is not much of a sight and what I am showing is all that there is to see - you can see panoramic vistas all over the place. The town of Blowing Rock, however, is a great place to visit.

The Blowing Rock area was once fought over by the Cherokee and Catawba Native American tribes. One blustery afternoon these two lovers were walking near the rocks when the man received a notice to report to his village and go into battle. When his lover urged him to stay with her, he became so distraught that he threw himself off the blowing rock into the gorge. The woman prayed to the Great Spirit to return her lover, and the Spirit complied by sending a gust of wind which blew the man back up the cliff and landed him safely on the blowing rock itself. Oconaluftee Visitor Center in the Great Smoky Mountains
From VIC's online TV Channel
The Mountain Farm Museum and Oconaluftee Visitor Center and located at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on U.S. Highway 441 near Cherokee, North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Parkway ends nearby. Stop by the new Oconaluftee Visitor Center with plenty of maps, guides, and helpful park rangers and programs.
The Mountain Farm Museum includes farm buildings, most dating around 1900, that were moved from their original locations throughout the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to create an open-air museum. Visitors can explore a log farmhouse, barn, apple house, springhouse, and a working blacksmith shop to get a sense of how families may have lived 100 years ago.
Most of the structures were built in the late 19th century and were moved here in the 1950s. The Davis House is a rare chance to view a log house built from chestnut wood before the chestnut blight decimated the American Chestnut in our forests during the 1930s and early 1940s.
Pet & Bike Friendly Trail
The Oconaluftee River Trail is one of two walking paths in the Smokies on which visitors can walk dogs and bicycle. Pets and bicycles are prohibited on all other park trails. The trail travels 1.5 miles one-way from the Oconaluftee Visitor Center to the outskirts of the city of Cherokee, NC. It is relatively flat, but does have a few small hills. The trail runs through the forest along side the Oconaluftee River and offers beautiful views of the river.
The Farm Museum is free. Open All Year: October 8:00-6:00, November - March 8:00-4:30, April 8:00-5:00
