Pure Voice performed at The Blue Baths in Rotorua to an enthusiastic audience of Maori achievers. Kingi Biddle was MC for the evening.
We are Pure Voice, a Maori and Pacifika cross over classical trio.
As a trio we write our own songs and sing many of them. We also sing opera and contemporary but with a dash of our unique Pacific cross over classical feel.
Our desire to provide a truly unique and spirit moving south sea sound.
The trio is made up of (L-R) Maria, Ramari and Elisha. Enjoy.
Top Things To Do - Downtown Rotorua, New Zealand
So if you are ever short on time when visiting Rotorua, New Zealand. Just head down to the down town area of Rotorua. That is what we did.
Rotorua is known for bubbling mud pools, shooting geysers and natural hot springs, as well as showcasing our fascinating Māori culture.
The Lakefront Reserve features BBQs, picnic tables and other areas perfect for family oriented activities. The reserve is also used for public events such as craft markets, pony rides and concerts. The reserve has three distinct divisions: the Village Green (bounded by Whakaue Street, Tutanekai Street and Memorial Drive), the Soundshell (bounded by Lake Road and Lake Rotorua) and the War Memorial Park which was opened in 1958.
The reserve covers almost eight hectares and, like Government Gardens, is one of the reserves gifted by the Ngati Whakaue tribe.
Originally known as Paepaekumana, the Government Gardens are situated on the lake's edge in downtown Rotorua.
This site is of legendary and historical importance to local Maori people, for here many significant battles have taken place. In the late 1800s, the Maori people gifted 50 acres of this land to the crown for the benefit of the people of the world. The land was a scrub-covered geothermal area with several therapeutic pools. The scrub was cleared and formal gardens planted. Several large trees remain from those early days, including multi-trunked Japanese firs and an unusual Californian weeping redwood. Realising the opportunity to create a South Pacific spa attraction, in 1908 the New Zealand government opened a large and elaborate bath house, built in the Elizabethan Tudor style of architecture.
Today this magnificent building houses a museum and an award-winning exhibition on the days when people came from all over the world to 'take the waters'. In the early 1930s a second building, the Blue Baths, was constructed in an ornate Mediterranean style. These were among the first baths in the world to allow both males and females in the same pool. Rather than medicinal, the purpose of the Blue Baths was fun - a chance to socialise in the style of Hollywood movie stars. Fully restored to their original glory, the Blue Baths offer you the chance to relax in heated waters in an architecturally stunning setting.
The Bath House Story
The Bath House, which today houses Rotorua Museum, was once an famous spa which offered therapeutic treatments to visitors from all over the world.
Water from nearby thermal springs was piped to private bathrooms and larger Aix-douche massage rooms. There were also a number of deep pools where chronic disorders were treated. The north wing accommodated male patients, while women were treated in the south wing.
At its height the spa gave 60,000 to 80,000 baths annually and about 30,000 special treatments.
There is little left of the once state-of-the-art spa treatment equipment; most was destroyed when the baths closed in 1966.

A cat lady at heart, I have naturally ended up cutting my parenting teeth on three rodents considerably further down the food chain. My short attention span causes me to buy a new crappy old car every few months, and then spend weeks trying in vain to make it not crappy. Rinse and repeat. Also vegetarian, I believe avocados and mayonnaise are the staples of a healthy diet.

Mud baths in Rotorua | New Zealand
Whakarewarewa New Zealand, Rotorua Bath House, Geothermal Power
Whakarewarewa and the Prince of Wales Feathers geyser. The Bath House now Rotorua's museum of history and art and geothermal power generation in New Zealand. Once again this is a 1991 VHS video conversion. Some of the sound is affected by wind shear and I thought about having a soundtrack playing instead. However, my dad's commentary is quite interesting on this video so I have decided to leave it as it is.
Rotorua Mud pools
Bubbling mud pools and spectacular geysers are proof of Rotorua's(New Zealand) volcanic background.

21st of Jan 2018 - Waihi Beach to Blue Lake Rotorua
Karen said that if we back tracked a bit, Hobbiton was on the way to Rotorua, so we headed back up and over the Coromandel ridge and followed down the Ohinemuri River again to Paeroa, which is a beautiful drive. We stopped at Waikino Memorial Bridge this time to get a few shots and have a better look.
Unfortunately Hobbiton was fully booked when we got there. No matter, we had lunch there and had a drone look around from above. Further on South we were amazed at the rolling green NZ rural countryside with corn fields, dairy cattle and sheep, and how neat they kept their verges and hedges.
After a brief stop on the way into Rotorua to stock up on supplies, it was less than 10km to our new camp at Blue lake Top 10 Holiday Park.
