Florida Kayak Fishing – Striper Fishing Bluff Point Connecticut
Another Striper fishing adventure in the Northeast. This time I am exploring Bluff Point State Park in Groton Connecticut. The park is 800 acres of protected land consisting of coastal bluffs, wetlands, forest, and rocky shorelines. To reach the rocky bluffs, it is a mile and one-half mile hike from the parking area. I rigged an old beach comber bike to carry my fishing rod and tackle and off I went. The Striper fishing is great and what a magnificent view of Long Island Sound and surrounding coastal towns. I looked for fast currents moving around jagged outcrops in search of Stripers and I was not disappointed. I will be back in Florida and back in my kayak next month, but for the time being, I am enjoying all that New England has to offer. Come along and enjoy the day with me… Tight Lines!

Environmental Science Bluff Point, Groton CT
Located at the end of Depot Road, this approximately 800 acre State reserve lies between the Poquonnock River and Mumford Cove. One of the largest natural areas in the State, it contains not only a variety of wildlife, but also a barrier beach, steep cliffs, forested lands and tidal wetlands. You can paddle up beyond the railroad bridge to the north (about 1/3 mile) and down to Bushy Point Beach (about 1 1/4 miles). Hiking and running trails offer vistas of Long Island Sound, Mumford Cove and the Poquonnock River. Public parking available. State-owned. To help you reach Bluff Point State Park and Reserve, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign. (UConn.edu)
